The hugely oversized
Deadpool #27, detailing the Merc With A Mouth's dysfunctional wedding day, hit shelves today, with a unique addition to its cover - an official Guinness World Record stamp. Scott Kobish's cover, featuring 232 residents of the Marvel Universe, now holds the record for the most characters on a single comic book cover. Of those 232 characters, 224 were agreed to be sufficiently recognisable to qualify for this achievement.
In an official statement today,
Deadpool editor Jordan White spoke of the enorminty of the record.
"When artist Scott Koblish proposed this cover layout to me, I thought he was crazy… but it’s the kind of crazy you have to respect. I think there’s no better testament to both his insanity and the amazing cover he and colorist Val Staples produced than an officially recognized world record.”
