COMICS: Final "Shattered Heroes" Teaser Doesn't Look Bode Well For Thor And Mjolnir!

COMICS: Final "Shattered Heroes" Teaser Doesn't Look Bode Well For Thor And Mjolnir!

Marvel continue to tease their post "Fear Itself" plans, this time giving us a possible explanation as to why Thor will no longer be the God of Thunder this coming November. Say goodbye to Mjolnir...

"The war is over, and the warriors return home, carrying with them scars of battle, both physical and mental. Now the cost will be tallied, the casualties buried and mourned, the rubble swept up and carted away. But the damage to our heroes isn’t easily repaired, the wounds not easily healed. Decisions are made and lives are changed—can shattered heroes find renewed courage to go on?"Tom Brevoort, SVP Executive Editor

Is this a metaphor, or do you really think we'll see the destruction of Mjolnir by the end of "Fear Itself"? With two more issues to go and several epilogue titles planned, it looks like we still have a little while to wait until we find out just yet! Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

It used to be: Bucky stays dead. That was along time ago. Death really isn't a big deal and now there is no fear in a battle or a war or a crisis. No one has anything to lose anymore. It makes the climax a little weak for me and I don't like a weak climax. Make death mean something again and I'll enjoy the climax so much more.

Just because the hammer is broken it doesn't mean Thor is dead. He broke the hammer before when he killed Bor and then dr. strange used the remaining odinforce to fix it. Odin can make another hammer or just repair this one

@Marvelpsycho79

O for craps sake man. What do you want? Thor wins. Thor Wins again. Thor loses but has a black eye. Thor wins. Blech. Same old same old.

That is NOT a fun read ^^^^^^^^^

Thor gets the shit kicked out of him and has his Uru Hammer shattered that Dr. Strange had previously tied Thor’s life force into. This puts Thor into a coma. From the shadows the Celtic God of Thunder: Tanarus steps up to defend Earth in Thor’s absence. And by doing so repays and ancient blood debt owed to the Norse Pantheon.

That IS a fun read ^^^^^^^^^^^

The whole thing soudns very entertaining.

@Odinson....true that Dr. Strange fixed the Hammer however he stipulated that if the Hammer were to break again Thor would die since Thors own lifeforce is infused into it

The label on this teaser should instead read "Damaged Gods".

What’s gotten pathetic is people like you whining about it. Especially when you don’t even know if he is “dead” or not.
He may just be in a Coma, or imprisoned, or in Thorsleep. Depowered. Rendered Mortal. He may have reseeded into Donald Blake, till such time as Mjolnir can be repaired. Even if he is “Dead” we may still follow his adventures in the Norse underworld like we did in Ultimate Thor. Death for Gods isn’t the same as it is for humans in the Marvel U anyway.

What I am saying is, that any of the above make a more compelling story than “Thor gets a black eye and is sad for a while, or Thor wins, yet again”. You can’t get more boring and repetitive than that.

@MarvelPsycho79- It's only been ten years since the fantastic four got their powers. Just think how quickly characters come back and then die in their time.

You’ve taken up a contrary position and you don’t even know why. You have some nebulous notion in your head that when characters die it bothers you. You cant seem to put words to why it bothers you.

What’s your alternative? You just complain without suggesting a solution. And saying “Tell great stories” is not a suggestion or a solution.

You have no idea what you actually want and what’s worse is that you THINK you have a point. At this point I think you are complaining just to complain.

Thor is “indisposed”, and while he is “Tanarus” the Thunder God from the Celtic Pantheon takes up his position. How will Earth’s heroes react to this new Thunderer? What new fiendships, love interests, allies, enemies, grudges, and rivalries will Tanarus form? Will he do a better job than Thor did? Will he be more liked? Will people despise him?

When Thor returns how will he and Tanarus interact? Will Thor view him as a usurper, or as a Steward? What are Tanarus’s true motivations?

The Celtic God of Thunder vs the Norse God of Thunder in an epic battle that shatters the heavens. OR. Two Thunder Gods vs a new and powerful foe

All of that^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Death of Thor Again or not. Sounds Much more interesting than what you are suggesting, which is nothing. Or worse that Thor wins again or loses but suffers not real consequence for it.

Comics suck now. At least mainstream comics. I'm so glad i stopped reading about 8 years ago. enough of wasting my money. I will always love the mdium and the passion the artists put into it, but I'm tired of everything being a huge event. Here's Marvel & DC's ads before every summer storyline for the last 10 years. (picture the voice for the monster truck commercials while you read this) "This summer a major event so big you won't believe it. It will rock the (insert company and major heroes here) to their core and change the way you look at (insert company name here) comics forever. This summer things happen and people die. You won't believe your eyes....until next summer after a good creative team is in the middle of a great story arc we can stop midstream, and we set back everything back to the status quo, and bring back the dead guys so we can come up with another earth shattering event that will blow your mind and suck hundreds of dollars out of your wallet!!!!!" It's all garbage. Joe Q is a douchebag and pretty much ran Marvel into the ground. Now I pick up the occasional trade of a storyline I read good things about, but I pretty much turned my back on buying weekly comics 8 years ago and have never looked back and I feel great. Maybe when the companies can take it back to 70's and 80's and just tell great fricking epic stories in there own books I might come back.

I feel it has a lot to do with what happens with Asgard. The Odinforce lies with Odin now. Stark was making swords with the dwarves, what says he doesn't forge a new Mjolnir. The possible remaking of the shield, etc. Thor maybe gone for "awhile", but he will return in time for the Avengers movie build up.

This is very confusing ....why would they kill thor off now when his movie and comics are selling so well? I hope Marvel doesn't plan on making some kind of drastic change to the character. Im not here for that

When I first read about Fear Itself, brother of Odin and so, I really though they would perhaps give Tyr some time to shine... He is, after all the bravest of all Aesirs and incapable of feeling fear. He was also the protector of Asgard before Thor. And, yeah, the norse god of war! Cant belive he hasnt been given more spotlight..

(fun theories about Tyr is that in some really old norse mythologies, Tyr outranks Odin.. Tyr is even an old nors word, simply translates to "god".)

Killing a major character is getting tiresome. It's not the publicity stunt it used to be. Maybe if they hire real writers to create new appealing characters instead of recycle the same stories over and over again, mainstream comics will be better.

I don't get it. Where does it state that Thor is dead? People are complaining about it but I don't see where it even says that.
