A dumb Wakanda-Africa stereotype? Why? Cuz there's not a Starbucks or a Wal-Mart in the background?

Wakanda always stood out because it embraced science/technology right alongside nature/spirituality.
Looks like they did a pretty good job representing Wakanda to me..... which, as we all know, is a fictional country. Saying you're from Africa and then dissing Wakanda is like me saying I'm American and then dissing Gotham City.

@cyked if that is how you put it fine but grew up in a city that had starbucks and A mega city mall close to the likes of wal-mart and i live in a [frick]ing mansion, doing my masters in the UK, you say it embraced technology yeah rite, Johannesburg, Lagos,Cario and Accra embraced the British style of society and technology you dont see them running with spears, we are already aware of countries that embrace the traditional african style of living, you know nothing about west africa or it's inhabitants and it's culture rather you listen to the media and watch what discovery tell youd we do not like being , My country is a very fast developing country and we do not like the representation of that like it's been over 10 years and you still think people live like that because my people don't live like that

#robliefieldfan they are using that weaponry because of the tradition and ancestry you jackass. also the wakandan weapons are made of out Vibranium. lastly Wakanda doesnt exist so this is a fictional civilization that embraces it's heritage, spirituality, and technology all in one. mixing the old with the new. Wakanda in the MCU is supposed to be one of the most Technologically advanced societies in the world. pull your head out of your ass would you.

but then again your name suggests moronic thoughts anyways. idc if you're getting your masters or not. some the smartest people go to school down the street at Harvard Univeristy. however, they lack the proper common sense to cross the street correctly and not get hit by a damn bus.

1) it seems I touched a nerve and
2) it seems you either cherry-picked what I was saying or you missed my point entirely. Let me say it softer and slower so it comes through.

Your accusation was that it was a dumb stereotype.
Pardon my bluntness, but I'm unfamiliar with an African stereotype that displays living in a mansion as commonplace. More often than not it seems that most stereotypes that emerge from the African CONTINENT is one of hunger or political instability. Those are stereotypes.

I was also unaware that 'doing' one's Masters degree in England was a thing that showed life on the ground in Africa.

No you don't see folks in Johannesburg running around with spears --- and you also don't see them with ancient obelisks with light graphics displaying stellar cartography, either.

The whole point was that Wakanda has always been portrayed as being somewhat traditional [sorry to offend your sensibilities, but yes that does mean spears and bones, etc... why be ashamed of the traditional cultures or from whence they came], and is also known for it's advanced technology and science [you do read these comics, right? Vibranium mound? Black Panther cult?].

So. Science/Technology mixed with Nature/Spirituality.
That you object to the representation as depicted in comic books suggests that you either haven't been following Black Panther for very long or you've got some kinda unresolved issue with where you come from and the traditions of the past.

There's not a single thing wrong with having a spear handy when walking around in a jungle with all sortsa critters that can jump out at you at a moment's notice.

Or..... would it be more to your liking if they brandished Gaelic Claymores or British Bayonets. How bout tazers?

They're in the jungles of Africa, for goodness' sake.

@osideous -- you beat me to the punch, man.
We were writing pretty much the same thing at the same time. I think you're a bit better at being to-the-point than I am.

If only i could find a real Society, Community or a place that lived similiar to Wakanda.

Science and technology at one with spirituality and nature. We find that and it could save the modern world. Whether you like it or not, Wakanda represents a pretty special place.

We should be focusing on the Positives of what it represents. Not trying to find someway to bitch about it.
