I think if jrjr would clen up his lines and bolden them and add heavier ink it wouldn't look like a scetch off the back of a high school art portfolio. He was dope in the 90's but he needs to step hos game up.

it's a good book, i've read the first one, the art might take time to get use to but it's good as a whole .

Looks like JRjr is going for a mix of Kirby, Kane, Kubert and maybe something of his own... whatever, it's not very good.

You know you have a problem when Captain America doesn't look American. He looks like he's from a weird East-European metal band.

@DTor91 wow, some really nice art there

@ACira
Thank you. Got a long way to go though.

@KaneVonDoom
I appreciate the compliment, but I do think JRJR's work is better, especially in terms of narrative art. The reason I made my first comment here is, I don't care if someone is not a fan of work; art is subjective. But to call it terrible or atrocious...that to me is ridiculous. I've seen some horrific art, and I see why JRJR's work is divisive. I'm not a fan of everything he does and sometimes his work looks pretty wonky, but I would not call his terrible by any means.

I'm very 'meh' about this artist. I can't pinpoint whether I like it, hate it, or just find it acceptable.

And I can't dig Cap in some fantasy world/story. Leave that to Thor. I guess now that they're making him look like Thor they're putting him in one of his adventures. But Cap belongs in the practical world, not this. Bad way to start off the new series.

Thank you. Yeah I've always had a preference for traditional art. Being at school though has made me appreciated digital art more than I had before.

JRJR's art has gotten worse over the last few years, his daredevil, x-men and spider-man stuff are gold though IMO

I think it's more the difference between professional bad and amateur bad. It's one thing to get some errors in major league baseball and get called a terrible third baseman. No one in the stands is going to challenge him at a game, but they still paid to be entertained regardless.

JRJR is known to have some great artwork to comic readers, but that isn't to say his work is always "great". It can be "professionally poor". People will compare his work to standards set by the industry as a whole... probably the same such standards he himself has contributed to.

@badacid

Yeah I can agree with that.

TruBeliever - 12/13/2012, 11:40 AM
@badacid great points. I actually enjoy JRJR's work on Kick Ass, it fits the world and that story telling. However, his art just doesn't fit the narrative for Captain America. Same can be said when Rob Leifeld did pencil work and that was truley God aweful.

I as well like the art, it worked well for kick ass and its not a bad fit here.

Issue one was great, remender taking elements from jack kirbys cap was brilliant. Love this cap more, than the overused, lame, and boring politic cap that most writers write for cap nowadays. so this is refreshing. And ill say it again, JRs art looks good here thanks to the colorist who used darker shades which makes it look cool.

The face and expression looks absolutely nothing like Steve Rogers.

The long hair isn't what pisses me off, it's the [frick]ing face.

This book was below average in every sense, the story is weak and the art is not good.
