I can't begin to express how much I hate what Marvel is doing to their slate of heroes. Why do they think they need to talk down to their audience be infantilizing all of their heroes? They pulled the SAME CRAP with Nova.

Who here wants this?

OVER THIS???

OR THIS!?!?!?!?!

OVER THIS?????????????

NUFF SAID!!! GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES MARVEL!!!!!!!!!

Giving her the name Ms.Marvel was a MAJOR mistake.

How about:
Groundbreaker
Ms. Quota
Outreach
Ms. Marketing Gimmick
Greenlight
Ms. Media Attention
Publicity Stuntwoman

BTW cover art is great but interior was slapped together without an editor(or one who should be fired)

@RABID

PLEASE TELL ME THAT WAS A JOKE…WE COULD DEFINITELY DO WITH MORE MUSLIM SUPERHEROES (AND THEY DONT ALL HAVE TO COME FROM SOUTHEAST ASIA OR THE MIDDLE EAST):

HERE'S A COOL ONE FROM DC (The Janissary):

They shouldn't have make it evident that she's Muslim unless it contributes to the story. That's racist on Marvel's part. They don't slap "CHRISTIAN" on Captain America's cover, "CATHOLIC" on Daredevil's, or "ATHIEST" on Iron Man's.

Also, what the hell is a matter with you @Rabid?

I'd check this out, but I'm not really a fan of what Marvel is putting out at the moment, DC is killing them in the comic department.
They need a nice reboot to kick things into gear, and to stop slapping the AVENGERS name onto everything.
Their line up should be:
Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, Hawk eye, Daredevil, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Secret Avengers, Captain Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy, Silver Surfer. With the addition of a few more.

@vtopa The Janissary looks like another Muslim stereotype. A Muslim hero with a curved sword, how original, not. This new Ms. Marvel seems like something new and different. I applaud Marvel for diversifying outside the xmen on this one.

You know, the only problem I have with the artwork is the storytelling. It's clear from the comments that people aren't picking things up.

For starters, first page 4th panel.

This is supposed to convey that she is using her abilities which clearly has something to do with shape-shifitng and her fist is enlarging.

Instead it merely comes across as a close-up of her fist with action lines around it. This is due in part to the panel size and the choice to not draw enough of her body to give us a size comparison.

Then when people finally do see her fat-fist people think it's a perspective error.

Even when she enlarges it's not as evident as it could be. The lack of an solid backgrounds really help ruin the illusion. The shrinking is equally as underwhelming.

I think her shifting powers could have been way more dramatic and obvious rather so understated and obscured.

That said, I like the style. It's different and even a bit fun. There is room for improvement though of course.

Arabs are cool. Muslims are idiots. I prefer my superheroes with a brain.

They shouldn't have make it evident that she's Muslim unless it contributes to the story.

Maybe it does. How do you know it doesn't?
The issue isn't out yet.

That's racist on Marvel's part. They don't slap "CHRISTIAN" on Captain America's cover, "CATHOLIC" on Daredevil's, or "ATHIEST" on Iron Man's.

A Muslim is a follower of Islam. Muslim isn't a race so it's not racist to say she's Muslim anywhere within the book.

Also, it's nowhere on the cover that she is a Muslim. She's not even in a hijab or anything. She actually looks less religiously conservative and more modern.

Is there another cover that I don't know about that says on it that she is a Mulsim?

A religion is a chosen philosophy, not an inborn trait. I find a religious Ms Marvel just as appalling as a MS Marvel Klan member. Doesn't mean I won't read it if the story is exciting or intelligently written. I'm not writing this character off yet, but I'm expecting just another version of Dc's Baez.

@Humperdink kamala being muslim is part of her storyline/plot, actually. or at least that's what people in charge of the comic said. that even though it's not the main focus, it does play a part.

@patriautism she's muslim-american, and not all muslims wear hijabs as far as i know.
