COMICS: Luke Cage Battles Ultron In More Of Bryan Hitch's Pencils From AGE OF ULTRON

There's only one way to describe these pencils from Age of Ultron #4. EPIC! Ahead of the Brian Michael Bendis (Avengers) penned event next year, Marvel has released more of Bryan Hitch's (The Ultimates) artwork, and it features an aerial battle between Luke Cage and the titular villain!

Running from March to June next year, Brian Michael Bendis' Age of Ultron will see Bryan Hitch providing art for the first five issues, with Brandon Peterson and Carlos Pacheco handling art duties on the latter five. Thanks to our friends over at Newsarama, we have the following artwork which as sees Luke Cage battling out with Ultron and his robotic army. That's one heck of an explosion in the splash page, and whether or not Cage will be one of the heroes who meet their maker during the much-hyped event remains to be seen! Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

While I do like Bendis, Bryan hitch is one of my favourite artists of all time and I am looking forward to this, marvel need to take a break from events for 2-3 years I'm tired of them. By the time age of ultron is over we'll have had AVX, Marvel NOW! And this in just over the space of a year.

Knowing Bendis, he probably will kill Cage, because as we all know, he's totally gay for Luke and Bendis's ultimate expression of love as a writer seems to be killing. Plus, from a editorial perspective, Cage is one of the few heavy hitters you can kill and still get an emotional impact. (Unlike, say, Bill Foster in Civil War. What a tear-jerker that was, right?)

Unless Ultron has opted for an aluminum chasis over adamantium I don't see Cage lasting more than 2 seconds.

It's not like me to get excited about a Marvel event, but Hitch's pencils and Bendis' story have me thinking this is gonna be something special. However, the fact that Hitch is only doing the first half kind of devalues it in terms of thinking of it as a potential classic. Although Brandon Peterson is doing the other half and he too is a person of so much awesomage. I'm on the fence.

Regarding Luke's hair: Maybe he took some kind of blast to the dome that scorched off that part of his hair? (Panel 3?) He doesn't have unbreakable hair. But, thankfully, he does seem to have unbreakable pants.

That "battle" should properly last about 3 panels, but I am sure that hack Bendis and the editorial staff will allow it to be some kind of epic battle. None of these guys show any regard to the history of these characters or even try to research them any more. If they even bothered to read some of his appearances from the 70's and 80's they would know that Ultron has gone toe to toe with Thor, Wonderman, and Iron Man all at once. Cage SHOULD be beaten down in seconds.
