The awesomely talented comic book artist, Chris Samnee (rhymes with Omni) takes us inside his process for finishing a page on Ultimate Spider-Man. His art on the title will debut in Issue #6.

11:57 AM - Here's the very first Tweet from Sam.

12:20 AM - And here's the next update Sam posted. Pencils are looking tight! (Figuratively speaking.)

1:03 AM - In the next update, we see things are starting to come together now.

1:12 AM - Chris had to take a break to deal with his small, infant offspring.

2:14 AM - With the women in the house tucked in, it was time to resume work!

2:56 AM - Next, Chris laid in all of the black in Spidey's suit. Then he had to wait for all the ink to dry.

4:41 AM - Here, Chris thought he better slow down and take his time on the buildings.

5:17 AM - So close to the finish line.

6:31AM - Now we see the finished product. Well Chris' part is done anyway, it still needs to be colored. But it looks awesome "as is" in my book.

Be sure to check out Chris' blog where he posts some awesome sketches. He's also one of the contributors to Comic Twart, so you can catch his sketches there as well. You can follow him on Twitter, here.

Chris has drawn comics for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Vertigo and Oni Press. Artist of Thor: The Mighty Avenger, Serenity: The Shepherd's Tale, Siege: Embedded, The Mighty, Capote In Kansas and other titles. Chris lives in Portland, OR with his lovely wife, Laura and their happy cat, Scout.

Ultimate Parker was good, but marvel was smart didn't belabor. Him once they felt they told all the stories they could (with substance mind you) they moved on. It gets easy to crank out mediocre stories with an already thoroughly explored character for familiarities sake, but they didn't and moved onto a new character with new and equally interesting stories (just interesting for different reasons). Give it a shot...

I love Chris Samnee. If I ever read Ultimate Spidey it'll be because of him.

damn, I need to actually spend time on my drawings. I have no patience, and they don't come out like I picture them in my head (like the page above)

It's a good, if basic composition. My only problem with the way he draws, is how anorexic he makes Spidey. I know he's a skinny dude, but look at his right leg for god sake! His outfit's supposed to be skin tight, not bone tight!

I don't like Ultimate anything, but this is very cool. Showing the process is a rare thing and we all need to know how hard it really is. These guys get very little for there hard work.
