Well, this is certainly a mysterious one! Marvel has spent the past few weeks slowly teasing the "Regenesis" teams of mutants who will emerge after the events of X-Men: Schism, but the focus has now turned to another area of the Marvel Universe entirely. Basically just the Avengers logo in a crosshairs, it's unknown what exactly this means, although Newsarama speculate about the possible meaning of "X" shape rather than a cross, and upcoming return of Norman Osborn as being two possible answers. Either way, Marvel are promising answers TOMORROW!

Ok, I remember Marvel saying that this next year will be 'the year of x-men'. I think Quesada coined that phrase. These crosshairs aren't in the traditional vertical/horizontal style. They intentionally form an 'X', but with it being done like a target, I wonder if either Wolverine's or Cyclop's faction does something that warrants the Avengers to step in between humans and mutants, and it could create the brewing for a full on war against mutants from humans....like a no joke war. We haven't seen a huge full scale war between man and mutant yet. After being around 40 years, I think it'd be about time. This would be like a more focused civil war of sorts, and could maybe serve to thin out the excess mutant characters and trim the fat between all these x-books.

Looks like Marvel is taking advantage of the X-Men: First Class and Avengers movie hype as well as the Schism/Regenisis and "Year of the X-Men" comic development over the last year to re-write/re-launch the "X-Men vs. the Avengers" event from the 80's.

It makes perfect sense (given the movie hype of the two teams in movie and media lately and the idea that the disconnect between the x-men teams could spill over into the Avengers "world" to drive a storyline and plot that justifies the Avengers fighting the X-Men)...if this is what it is.

Looks like a new "X-Men vs. the Avengers" comic cross-over event to me.

please let it be the Ultron War. It was hinted at in the first arc of the relaunch of the AVENGERS. But its most likely going to be some x-men crossover, since these teams always intersect every few years

ckal and drkasady

this isn't about the revengers. They've been advertising for that in Marvel issues for the past two months. everyone knows thats happening, and when.

This is a teaser for something no one knows anything about yet.

It's not Wonder Man's Revengers, because the first part of that storyline already hit the shelves last week and the second part is coming in Avengers annual #1 which comes out far too soon. They are touting December so this is something else entirely.

bbarber2323: The image that you see on an avatar is the one that often gets imprinted into a person's mind, if they've never seen what the person actually looks like. Gusto has an old man as an avatar, ergo we see him as an old man.
