Next week, the road to Avengers VS X-Men begins in Avengers X-Sanction #1 from the blockbuster creative team of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness! And just in time to witness Cable go head to head against Earth’s Mightiest, three prolific artists who put their stamp on Cable join us for more as Marvel unveils their variant covers to Avengers X: Sanction. Stephen Platt, Ian Churchill & Steve Skroce join Marvel’s CCO, Joe Quesada, superstar artists Ed McGuinness and Leinil Yu on amazing covers for the biggest chapter in Cable’s life!

"When Cable came back we knew it had to be big, but I had no idea that we could get superstars STEVE SKROCE and IAN CHURCHILL -- who I had a blast working on the monthly Cable comic back in the day - and, making his return to Marvel, STEPHEN PLATT to all do variant covers for AVENGERS X-SANCTION!" exclaimed Loeb. "This series is a celebration of everything we love about Nathan Summers and it wouldn’t have felt complete without all these guys onboard."

Cable’s actions will send shockwaves throughout the Marvel Universe and with these special variants featuring brawls against each of Earth’s Mightiest, no fan can miss them!

I like the fact that Cable's only using his lethal weapons on the characters who can heal from any injuries he inflicts upon them. I like that, a considerate cybernetic bastard.

@tomasocelot - Lol! Isn't that how it goes? They meet, they battle for about two or three pages, they slowly realize what's wrong, and then they realize that they have a common enemy. But still, this looks awesome. :)

It might not turn out to be the standard 3 page "hero skirmishes" Marvel usually does. Cable is Hope's protector and if the Avengers are after Hope, then Cable would unload on them with EVERYTHING he has!! I don't know the story so far so I'll defer to those regularly reading the x-titles on this. Also, what is the familial relation between Cable and Hope again? The Summers family tree is too twisted for me to ever figure it out lol
TheAmazingSpidey63
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 12/9/2011, 12:05 PM
@oxbowArcher - Yeah, maybe you're right. If you mess with Cable, then your a** is toast, lol. And to answer your question about Cable and Hope and how they are related, I'm not too sure, man :P. Like you said, the Summers' family tree is pretty confusing to figure out. I'll look it up right now, though.

@Spidey63-I guess it all depends on whether the Avengers knows that the Phoenix force is returning to earth for Hope. If they're after Hope, then God help them when Cable finds out!

Some of my favorite Cable stories are of him and baby Hope time-travelling, with Bishop trying to hunt them down... reminds me of the Time Machine meets Terminator! I'm just glad Wolvie has his healing factor running. It's like in TDK when Gordon's boy asks him why they're chasing Batman? Why do they take apart Wolvie in nearly every battle? Because he can take it...

that spidey picture is annoying, cable shouldn't be able to lay a GLOVE on him as hs speed and agility is super human

@oxbowArcher - Hope (Hope Summers) is the adoptive daughter of Cable (Nathan Summers).

TheAmazingSpidey63 - 12/9/2011, 12:29 PM
@oxbowArcher - Yeah, I guess so. May God be with them when Cable lays some beating down on them :P. 'Cause from what I heard, Cable is a pretty strong character out there in the MU. Well, one of the strongest out there. We'll have to see what happens when this comes out.

I've never actually read a Cable comic. He seems like a pretty interesting character. Hopefully I can soon pick up some Cable comic books.

Cable has super strength/speed/endurance plus military training in the future, plus future tech. He's also telekinetic/telepathic. He can literally dodge bullets, or attack people with his mind like Jean Grey. He rarely uses his mental powers, the reason customarily given is that he needs to concentrate on keeping the techno-organic virus that's slowly turning him into a cyborg from taking over his body entirely. He's one general who isn't afraid of the front lines!

Given all that, I think that he could take out Spidey. Sorry, PP fans...
