COMICS: Marvel's MIGHTY Team Fully Assembled

Luke Cage, She-Hulk, Blue Marvel, Superior Spider-Man, White Tiger and Power Man make up the newest Marvel Comics superhero group set to debut in September during the events of Infinity.

I don't think anyone could've predicted the final two members to join Luke Cage's "Mighty (Avengers (?)" team after the previously announced names of She-Hulk, Superior Spider-Man and Blue Marvel. And if you're like me, you did a double-take at the name of Power Man, an identity first utilized by Luke Cage in his early superhero days. I was thinking more along the lines of Iron Fist or Daredevil but I suppose that was a bit obvious. In looking up Power Man's (Victor Alvarez) backstory I have to say I'm intrigued enough to look forward to learning more about the character. I'm on the fence about White Tiger but I'm keeping an open mind.

The six-part Infinity series, written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Jim Cheung, Jerome Opeña and Dustin Weaver, starts in August. No word yet on the creative team behind the 'Mighty' but where there's Cage there's usually Bendis.

As far as the premise is concerned, it appears most of the A-list Avengers are in space to combat the threat of Thanos and The Builders leaving Luke Cage to assume a Captain America-esque leadership role and defend a new team to combat the bad guys planet side. Cage has previously assumed such a role within New Avengers and it was well-received. Plus, it's just nice to see him in that limelight once again.

"From the battlefields of Infinity comes a new team to protect Earth! With the Avengers light-years away in space, contending with the Builders and Thanos’ marauders ransacking the Earth, who will stand in defense of mankind?"

great lineup. only 1 non-minority on the team too, pretty cool. but i wonder, which White Tiger is this? the new 1 from Avengers Academy or Angela Del Toro?

I agree. No one brings anything different to the table. BM is the strongest, and potentially smartest one. You got a bunch of bruisers on the team who are not quite on his level. You got a brainy guy (spideyock) who isn't quite on his level. BM is the only one with energy projection type powers. There is no power set diversity at all, besides BM.

The biggest pro to this book is all of the personality diversity. That is the big saving grace here. I hope the creative team behind this is good. The potential for some great interactions between the team, is high.

I have been saying take adam cosmic from day one. Its best way for his character to work without depowering him. An anti matter generator has no place on earth. Have this guy clash with some heavies out in space where he can really let loose. I want to see adam take one of the annihlators bad. A fight with the sufer, or gladiator would be epic.

They should drop powerman and tiger, and get wiccan and rachel summers.

Still mad DnA never got to close up some of the loose ends they left after the TI. Even with bendis though, Blue Marvel's power set alone screams cosmic level power. Maybe someday I will get my BMvs Silver Surfer battle.

So switch out she hulk or B.M. for nova and you have the ultimate spiderman cartoon team.
Is it me or does it feel like the TVandFILM department are influencing the comics more and more instead of the other way round.

@GLprime I think Marvel is just trying to get the general audience (people who don't read comics) to read comics. At the same time promoting TV and Movies to comic readers cause some comic readers have a hard time watching CBMs.

SSM is the character I give a crap about on this team.

If Nova was on this team, then this would be the same roster as the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

Not looking forward to this at all. Mainly because I refuse to buy a title that has the SSM.

Dude get over it. How many times do you want to see P. Parker fight the same villains with the same jokes? Superior Spider-Man is a better read... in my opinion.

Spider-Man isn't fun anymore. WIth Ock at the wheel he's just a big douche at every chance he gets. And not just any old douche. A Superior brand of douche.

Okay that's just a weird team. Heavy hitters and street level people? Adam, the Blue Marvel and SPiderman are the brains, Adam is also the heaviest hitter in the group. Then You have She-Hulk, Luke Cage and even Power Man for that matter, and then just throwing in White Tiger? That's just weird. Should;ve had Doc Strange on the group for mystecism.
