Earlier today, it was revealed that Peter Parker and Miles Morales will meet in the first ever crossover between Marvel's two alternate realities. For full details on the storyline, click HERE. After the announcement, Newsarama caught up with Spider-Men editor Mark Paniccia, who revealed that despite previous comments from Marvel that they would never do a 616/Ultimate crossover, they couldn't pass up the opportunity for one very simple reason.

"Timing was just right. There's only one 50th Anniversary for Spider-Man." So far, all we really know is that it will be Peter who ends up in the Ultimate reality. As for whether Miles will visit the 616 universe, he remained coy. "You'll have to read to find out." Marvel earlier revealed that the Ultimate versions of Aunt May and Gwen Stacy would have a role in the limited series, to which Paniccia added: "As you might guess, this is a story that's filled to the brim with poignancy for our cast. This will definitely impact May and Gwen. I think one of the best ways to answer that question is asking yourself how you would feel in a situation like that? And Brian pulls it off magnificently with heart and soul. This will have resonance. You can't expect that everything will be tucked away nicely."

Over at Comic Book Resources, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso also discussed the upcoming series. While he was a little less willing to give away any specific details, he let slip the following. "All I can say is that the Peter Parker of the Ultimate Universe casts a huge shadow over Miles' spiritual and emotional development. What will he do when he's confronted with the Peter Parker from another universe? Well, that's the story. And there are a couple of things going on. First, Miles is meeting someone who's the closest flesh-and-blood thing to his actual biggest hero. Second, he's being shown a window into an entire new universe. That's mind-bending stuff for a young kid to come to terms with."
