COMICS: Touching Cover For Ultimate Spider-Man 160: Death Of Spider-Man

COMICS: Touching Cover For Ultimate Spider-Man 160: Death Of Spider-Man

As Peter Parker sheds his mortal coil, we get a look at this pretty great cover for the issue in which he departs the Ultimate universe..

I know, it's only Ultimate Parker, but whether you're a fan of that brand or not, any Spidey fan would have to admit that this is a pretty moving picture. Ultimate Spider-Man #160 will be published in July and will come poly-bagged.

Thanks to Goran for the heads up.

You know, I don't particularly care for the Ultimate universe, but this is a powerful image. You can't be a Spidey fan and not feel something for this.

Good emotion. As an artist myself this is a great way to send Pete off. Not happy with the whole death thing though.

Wow. This is so simple yet emotional, so beautiful. I may frame this, seriously, I want a poster of this.

So he's really going to die? No twist or anything? Man... that really is something. It's touching, in fact (despite how the Ultimate line has gone down hill for a long time) this is a cover worthy of 616 Marvel (if they ever killed off 616 Pete).

If you have time, can you check my latest fan fic, X-Men Origins: Magneto, out? I'd really appreciate it

is that supposed to be Uncle Ben?

And what the hell is up with those annoying "GumGum" ads that pop up on the pics now?

@SageMode yes. Very, Very sad, I really want a poster, this is big, I think I'm gonna cry.

bye bye fake Peter! Tell fake uncle Ben to cut his fake pony-tail. Glad your only dying in the fake Marvel Universe.

@nuck82 Yeah, it is him, and I'm no fan of the Ultimate Universe, but you gotta admit, this is.......Pulchritudinous.

Grif! I was waiting for someone to comment on that! Fricking hilarious. Still touching, both in the "I feel sad" kind of way, and the "Peter's touching his Uncle's ass" kind of way.
Still, sad stuff.

And yeah, Ultimate Uncle Ben has a pony tail because he was apparently a hippie when he was younger or something like that. To be fair I've read 1 Ultimate Spiderman, which was set after his death.

I stopped reading Ultimate Marvel after Ultimatum. Looks like I should've kept reading Ultimate Spider-Man

Ultimate Spider-Man was a good read(mostly). The biggest problem many people had with it is that it wasn't the classic Spider-Man. No reason to dislike something is it?

Is Spiderman about the be the victim of child molestation?

I don't get it.

@Leeholland.

You're not funny and you should delete your post.

@ Grif

No he isn’t. His hand is closed around some of the material of Ben’s jacket. You don’t need to be insinuating vile things because you think its funny.

@Gaston

To actively wish for the destruction of something others enjoy is extremely petty. Why do you care? The existence of the 616 universe has no bearing on the Ultimate universe and visa versa. This is like being a chocolate fan and wishing that all the vanilla vines would die so you don’t have to look at vanilla ice cream in the freezer next to your chocolate icream.

enjoyed this on the comic book forums a few days ago thoroughly. love Quesada. love that he's a top dog at marvel and still kicks out some of the best pencils and inks. not crazy about Ben being a dumb hippy but it's for the Ultimates generation. Quesada does such good emotional work, especially One More Day, despite the backlash the story got

if thats uncle ben it looks like he could kick spidey's ass.

That's not Uncle Ben. I think that's the version of God that Peter Parker encountered in one of his stories in the 616 universe.

@The Intruder

Why do you care? If anything the Ultimate Universe brings more readers to the Marvel brand that otherwise wouldn’t buy comics. It’s existence strengthens the company.

It’s just going after a slightly different target demographic..

You might as well be wishing the death of the “Super Hero Squad” universe too.

They’re all just different versions of the same thing that appeal to different ages/types of people. it makes for a stronger brand with more mass appeal

I read every issue of "Ultimate Spider-Man" and "Ultimate X-Men" up until "Ultimatum" and the first 2 volumes of "The Ultimates" and I don't get why people hate it so much. sure it had it's flaws (I didn't care for Green Goblin, Colossus, Professor X, Kraven or Deadpool) but overall, pre-"Ultimatum" was pretty good I thought. good cover, btw.
