Marvel Comics Reveals The New Sorcerer Supreme Following Recent DEATH OF DOCTOR STRANGE Event

Marvel has finally revealed who will become the new Sorcerer Supreme following the death of Doctor Strange, and longtime fans of the character should definitely appreciate who will inherit the mantle.

This March, Marvel Comics will introduce a new Sorcerer Supreme. Doctor Strange is dead, and another sorcerer - sorry, sorceress - is set to take that title for themselves. It's been confirmed that Clea, mistress of the Dark Dimension and Stephen Strange's powerful partner, will rise to the challenge of defending earth from mystical and otherworldly danger in Strange #1. 

Written by Jed MacKay with art from Marcelo Ferreira, the ongoing series spins directly out of Death of Doctor Strange. Haunted by her recently returned memories, Clea longs to bring Stephen Strange back from the dead. However, when a mysterious group attacks the magical realm, Clea, now the sole protector of Earth against magical threats must rise to the duties of Sorcerer Supreme.

"After the apocalyptic events of The Death of Doctor Strange, there's a new Sorcerer Supreme in residence at 177A Bleecker Street, and a new Doctor Strange - Clea Strange," MacKay explains.

"When she's not fighting off the magical gangsters of the Blasphemy Syndicate, or battling undead super-monsters, she's going after what's hers: the late Stephen Strange. It's been really exciting to open up a new chapter in the world of Doctor (Clea) Strange, to get some new adventures going and some new weirdies on the table, and I can't wait for folks to come along with us!"

The first issue of Strange arrives in comic book stores on March 2, just in time for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' debut in theaters on May 6.

@dragon316 - that wasn't Wolverine's daughter, Weapon Hex came from the Infinity Warps series and was the combination of X-23 and Scarlet Witch. Wolverine didn't exist as he was combined with Emma Frost.

I have no horse in this race, I have never read a Doctor Strange comic. Saying that, the title got passed to Strange so the sorcerer supreme title is probably one we should see on different characters a lot more

I'm glad it's a character that feels right for the role lore-wise, and that they didn't shoehorn someone undeserving into it just to try to fill some sort of quota. Besides, it's not like Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme is gone forever.

Plus she looks pretty cool there. I'll definitely pick up the Marvel Legends figure they'll inevitably put out in the upcoming line tying in with the next Doctor Strange movie.

Beyond that, I really don't care. What's going on in comic books these days is not on my radar and I'm not invested.

@TheManWithoutFear - I’m usually opposed to turning characters into legacy-characters. I think giving Miles Morales his own super hero name would make him come into his own more. Iron Heart is a good example on how to handle it. But if Clea has changed her last name then it makes sense to pass down the name Doctor Strange.

Which sounds pretty interesting, and it would be cool seeing her outside the Krakoa books. Not that I know her that much, but I like her more than Clea.

Hardly matters. It won't sell well, and they'll bring Strange back next year when his movie comes out. But they'll probably do something like they did with Thor without his hammer. He'll be dark and edgy, but not the Sorcerer Supreme. Then there will be some big summer event where he takes up the mantle again. I love comics, and I love Marvel, but it's really easy to watch how their annual events repeat themselves.

Haven't read Doctor Strange in awhile (stopped after Waid's first arc, but I might start picking up this series. Seems like a decent shake up, even if it's temporary.

Kids like lots of pics of women in tight fitting costumes so this is a GOOD thing. Some may believe it's being done for diversity, and some creators may even believe they are doing it for diversity, but it's not it's just WANK FODDER.
