SDCC '16: What Can We Expect MARVEL To Announce?

Next week will see the return of San Diego Comic-Con, with plenty of awesome announcements sure to come with it. Here are some things I'm personally hoping to see announced.

At the risk of sacrificing my dignity--wait, what dignity?--this is gonna be another one of those articles where I don't even try. I'm just gonna say what I need to say and get the heck outta here.

Here's a list of things I hope they announce at San Diego Comic-Con. Hope you enjoy, CBM.

1). Agent Carter Picked Up By Netflix

While this doesn't seem likely at all, stranger things have happened. The last time I looked at that petition fans made to get Agent Carter on Netflix, it had over 100,000 signatures, and I wouldn't doubt there's a lot of tumblrized Peggy fans who don't know have Netflix now that would get a subscription at least just to watch her show. I really want them to continue with the story they were building towards; you could tell they had a general plan.

2). Captain Marvel Director/Actress Revealed

I think it's an almost guarantee we'll see this announcement made. Not only have we been demanding it, but Marvel has also been looking for these roles to be filled for quite some time now, especially with her first appearing in Avengers: Infinity War highly likely.

3). Avengers: Infinity War Parts Retitled

(this picture is the biggest one of the bunch to emphasise how badly I want EVERYONE involved)

A few months ago the Russo Bros. confirmed that Avengers: Infinity War would be retitled as the two stories are very much their own, despite their connection. With the first of that two-parter being less than two years away, I think betting on a title announcement is safe.

Will one of the movies remain with the title "Infinity War," or will both movies get new titles altogether? I'd appreciate some guesses in the comment section. The CBM community guessed Thor: Ragnarok's name way back when--perhaps we could do it again.

4). Spider-Man: Homecoming Cast of Characters

Spider-Man: Homecoming has a ridiculous amount of cast members, and I'd like to know just who a few of these actors are portraying. At least the comic book characters, you know? Is Flash Thompson here? What about J. Jonah Jameson or Harry Osborn? Announce some people, yo.

5). Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Villain

If I'm not mistaken, the entire cast of the film is set to appear, so obviously new details about the film will come to life. Will one of the be the revelation of the film's main antagonist? It's not unlikely.

I still say it's Mephisto.

If We're Lucky

  • We'll get some news on the Damage Control pilot.
  • We'll get some news on Iron Fist.
  • Release date for Iron Fist/The Punisher/The Defenders.
  • Fantastic Four returns. Let me dream.

Really great looking article man. A good list too. I love the MCU but the only thing on this list that would truly blow me away would be Fan4 back with Marvel, even though it's depressingly unlikely. Excited for what they bring nonetheless.

@FishyZombie - Probably not, They have to tease Dr Strange + drop a trailer, Guardians + Show footage, Luke Cage + Trailer, AoS, Infinity War starts filming later this year so they'll want to announce Cap Marvel, & Spiderman Homecoming. Since Thor comes out next November, they can wait til next Comic-con for Thor 3, Black Panther, and Infinity War part 1

Wasn't the GOTG 2 villain announced as the female Adam Warlock or something?

@GliderMan... You just keep dreaming about the F4. And you dream so hard it becomes a reality. I'm so with you on that one man.

And it can happen. I've been a huge Guns N Roses fan since I was young. I dreamt for decades of seeing them in concert, but the bad blood between Axel and Slash was some of the worst in the music history. Everyone said it was impossible for them to make up and a reunion would never happen.

Guess what, muthrrfvcker? I saw Guns N Roses in concert last night in the 5th row. And it was g-ddamn unbelievable.

Keep dreaming, man. Dreams can come true.

@TomSolo - After the Spiderman deal, and F4's Major Flop, it's only a matter of time. Afterwards the MCU will be complete aside from the X-men, which is fine

@Deonox - I sure hope so. I know folks are split between where the F4 and X-men rights should be. My thoughts are as follows:

X-men rights - For now, keep them at Fox. I feel Fox can make better X-men movies. I feel they did it with Deadpool, so there is no reason they couldn't find a different group of people to revitalize the X-men franchise. Plus, there are too many characters to throw into the MCU all at once. Maybe in time, but not right now. Plus, you run into the whole global persecution and bigotry towards mutants. That is a complex theme that really doesn't need to be brought into the current MCU.

The F4 - They and the associated properties need to return asap. I feel Fox has had enough time to try and make them work, and I feel they have proven they have no idea what to do with it. It's like what many members of this site do with boobies. All excited when they get them and then fvck it all up. Just clueless. Also, their tone fits more with the MCU and their villain roster could really give the MCU a shot in the arm. Give me Dr. Doom dammit!

Based off of the fact that the villain of Guardians Vol 2 is a woman I've begun to have some theories of my own. That one rumor suggested that it would be Ayesha who is ridiculously obscure. I feel like they will be combining her character with that of the Matriarch of the Universal Church of Truth who is actually a large Guardians villain and one of the biggest female villains that the Guardians have faced. Given her obsession with Adam Warlock it would make sense for the female version of Adam to possibly be leading the church especially since the Matriarch never had a specific name. Just my theory though!
