Deadline report that the creator of such iconic Marvel characters as Spider-Man, the Hulk, X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers and more, will be presented with the Producers Guild of America 2012 Vanguard Award when the group holds its 23rd annual PGA Awards ceremony January 21 at the Beverly Hilton. "Stan Lee’s creative vision and imagination has produced some of the most beloved and visually stunning characters and adventures in history," Producers Guild Awards co-chairs Paula Wagner and Michael Manheim said while announcing the award earlier today. "He not only has created content that will forever be in our culture but continues to make strides in the digital and new media realms, keeping the comic book industry fresh and exciting. Stan’s accomplishments truly encompass the spirit of the Vanguard Award and we are proud to honor him."

its well deserved,no one in the comic book industry has created more characters than stan lee.

obviously he can't take full credit,some of that goes to the artist he worked with on the particular comic book i.e jack kirby,steve ditko & so on.

i've met him at a london comic shop at a book signing way back in 1991,the book was by les daniels & it was called "marvel five fabulous decades of the world's greatest comics"

i stood in the freezing cold for four hours,shaked his hand said thanks for everything,asked him who his favorite character was he replyed "he loved them all but spider-man & the silver surfer because the surfer is like the jesus christ of the marvel universe"

then he signed the £30.00 book to graham from stan lee 91. :)

Not him creating CO-CREATING Marvel comics or him being "Awesome".

@ DCF Stan is more the creator and the artists he worked with were co-creators such as another who helped create the Marvelverse, Steve Ditko (Lee didn't like Kirby's work on Spiderman so he went with Ditko (just an example to show that Lee and Kirby were not equally responsible for the creation of all of Marvel's important characters at the time)). By the way, Jack Kirby hated being called Jack "The King" Kirby.
