The original 1967 cover art for Amazing Spider-Man #49, by legendary comic book artist John Romita Sr. is expected to bring $100,000 or more at Heritage Auctions’ Signature® Vintage Comics & Comic Art Auction on Aug. 17-18.
LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.

This is the first time this indelible cover art has ever been offered for public sale.

"This cover was only John Romita Sr.’s 11th for the title and it’s simply one of his very best," said Ed Jaster, senior vice president at Heritage Auctions. "It's not just a cool cover; it's a priceless piece of Silver Age Marvel lore and only the second Romita Sr. Spider-Man cover from this era we have offered to date. We’re expecting some fireworks when this comes up."

The truth?? Maybe the cover to Amazing Spider-Man #23, but not this...

The cover sucks...Too cartoony. Always was. Romita Sr.'s art belonged in the Sunday funnies...Apartment 3-G or Steve Canyon or something.

I never got over Ditko's premature departure. The book was never the same.

Wally Wood on Daredevil, Ditko on Spidey and Dr. Strange..The King on the F.F., Thor and Cap...Even Don Heck was cool enough on The Avengers and Iron Man...

Ahhh...Those were the days.
