Top 5 Comic Series of 2014

Not including the big 2 cause the have a habit of just being brand dependent, a little cliche, overhyped, generally lacking in originality, overly serious and full of plotholes (I’m a bit bitter over Marvel and DC today yes) what was the top 5 comic book series of 2014

1. Lumberjanes - Not particularly original in design, a mismatched troop of female archetypes at a summer camp battling  a variety of mythological and mysterious antagonists consisting not at least a Velociraptor.. or when I put it like that it seems very original, but I assure you IT IS NOT!  Even the minimal realist artwork and appropriately coloured crayolla style has been seen elsewhere.. just not constructed this way into an episodic narrative instead of the padded styles of every other comic..  ok number two!

2. The Life After - Clearly a throwback to Garth Ennis's Preacher, with its liquid artstyles and theme of God isn't really sure what he’s doing/satirical commentary on religious structural regimes indoctrinated with vibrant characters that just demands your attention, however there is like nooo swearing like Preacher, but there is a journey that I can't go into because.. spoilers!

3. Mind MGMT - Jeebus Matt Kindt can you be anyyyyyyy nycer in person where you get all creative and create a whole narrative when someone asks you to draw a sketch of a cow.  Annnnd then you create a serial with psychic spy espionage thats actually intreguing, that doesn’t just have flat overly predictably serious character types, you actually give them complex backgrounds and choices and compromises like any normal human being!  Not to mention the screamesque artstyle layered on draftpaper with inner and outter narratives with page clues that tie into the story.  How dare you :@

4. Revival - Argh Tim Seeley another nyce person!!  And then writing the most original Zombie book since The Walking Dead that doesn't rely on shock horror gimmicks and actually write as much dialogue as possibly acceptable to make the story long enough to feel like a TV episode!!  Dang you for making this intreguing tale of a goverment mandated isolated village filled with the living dead, dang you!

5.  The Walking Dead - Why do people like the TV show, it sucks, it’s boring and after not casting an attractive Micchonnie who didn’t do anything in season 2 or was it 3 I just could not watch it anymore!!  Meanwhile back in the Comic book, I wonder if Carl will get laid soon?
