UPDATE: COMICS: Cover To DETECTIVE COMICS #18 - "Requiem"

Check out the first post-Batman Incorporated #8 glimpse of one of the Bat-family title covers. This should also dispel any rumors that the ending of Batman Inc. was some type of bait-and-switch. Updated with more Bat-family reaction covers:

Has everyone either read Batman Incorporated #8, or knows what happens in it at this stage? If not look away now....okay, so Damian Wayne dies. It's pretty well done, if a little quick, but that's why we have the fallout to come in future Bat-family titles - the first of which will be Detective Comics #18. Newsarama have inquired as to whether the "Requiem" branding would be appearing on all titles next week, but haven't had confirmation yet. What did you guys think of the events of Batman Incorporated?

I'm baffled. Unless its another Damian clone, we have a SERIOUS continuity error now between Batman&Son and New52 Batman Inc. #8. I would be complaining that they should've offed him in DotF but after the last 3 pages of RHatO#17, I'm satisfied w/ the DotF completely. I don't know a single person who read Batman Inc though, so I guess I'll be buying the paperbacks

I read Layman's 'Tec for Death of the Family. It was ok. May grab this seeing as how I'm a Damian fan.

DC did a great job by killing that stupid Robin...hated him from first... Hope he is not back at least for another year...

Morrison has said that Damian was created to die unfortunately. I highly doubt he stays dead considering who is mommy and gramps are.

[frick] Morrison, this cover is beautiful though
But if Bruce doesn't kill a mother[frick]er for the son of his biological son then that's just stupid right there; if anything makes him snap it should be that!

well... I really hope they dont go obvious and throw him in a lazarus pit and make him the new Ras Al Ghul and run it like the Queen/Child King dynamic from Game of Thrones.

why kill another robin? that's what makes red hood so awesome and unique. Plus Bruce always carried the burden of having failed Jason.

why kill bruce's son? having damian as robin made sense (and was slightly less creepy than recruiting an unrelated orphan teenage boy) and added more tension to the Al Ghul family relationship.

Why kill damian at all? His character, although annoying, added an entirely new dimension to the batman and robin mythos. it added a whole new (strong) personality to the bat-family, defined relationships with previous Robins and brough a wealth of new possible stories. killing off an annoying character doesn't bring the emotional weight of a more entrenched and beloved character.

plain dumb move all round. So now will we see Bruce go off the rails (again) until another robin (probably a female this time?) steps in to help bring light back to the cave?

Far out this is so damn annoying.

NOTHING in comics guarantees a death is real. NOTHING.

Still don't get why they killed off Damian. That kind of dulls the effect of Death of the Family because everyone is going to be consulting to Bruce after the death of his son. Not to mention his character progression in Batman and Robin has been tremendous. This is the one character since Johnny Storm and Nightcrawler, I can't wait to return from the dead.

Is Incorporated going to end soon, getting fed up with Grant Morrison's Batman.

I still don't understand how anyone can't like Grant's six year run..

It's bold.
It's beautiful.
[frick]ing action packed.
A magnificent take on a character who's bore factor was exponentially increasing.
Also enabled me to enjoy the dreadful works of silver age Batman.

Why hate it? It's fresh. Innovative. And just pure [frick]ing fun.

This whole thing is ridiculous to me. Heck, I bought Incorporated #8 the other day and put it up on eBay that night. Lol.

Well, Bruce was just dead a little while ago..

I have to agree that 'death' has been ruined.. when they kill off characters now I can't bring myself to be moved at all.

Damian will probably return as a villain.

ScabsallOver@ What continuity error? If you mean the Damien being Batman in the future, it has been revealed that that wasn't the Damien who was Robin. That's probably the Heretic. So it could be a much nearer future. Which means Barbara might be crippled again. Or it might not happen at all, because it was just a dream of a possible future.
Otherwise, y'know, we have had a Flashpoint inbetween Batman and Son and Batman Inc' Vol 2, y'know. Two different timelines.

It makes no sense for Damien to die other than to push Batman to a new extreme and bring the rest of the Bat Family closer together. I honestly don't see the point in killing off Damien other than i see Helena Wayne so there is a potential for a Helena Wayne Robin...which would be awesome. But i was looking forward to Damien getting older. Don't get it but i'm all for change the character was becoming more endearing

But nice job, DC. You almost made it seem like it wasn't predictable for half a second. Almost.

I think it's silly to think that anyone closely related to Ra's Al Ghul is going to be dead for long. I mean heck, Jason Todd came back the same way.

I was hoping Damien was going to die at the hands of the Joker in Batman #17. Still disappointed that no one met their end in that book and to have such a great lead up and then Damien dies shortly after in Batman Incorporated - a book loathed by many ... seems like a cop out in so many ways.

I like the idea of Batman dealing with more guilt having a second Robin die at the hands of the joker - that would make for an interesting read but we won't get that chance.

Should we all place bets on how long it takes before Damien is brought back to life again?

Damien is just earning his stripes. If your parents aren't dead then you have to die and be reborn. Tim Drake, your next!
