I’ll admit, I wasn’t all that excited for another convention to pop up. After reading the original guest list, even though Stan Lee was already a part of it, I was not really that blown away by the celebs they had gathered. It seems like those in charge felt the same and began adding new names to the list, most recently, the Joker himself, Mark Hamill. Before that, the only person who had my interest was North Carolina tattoo artist Darren White. Jhonen Vasquez, SFX artist and sculptor Chet Zar, Philip Tan and a few others from the New 52 will be there as well as Ben Browder from Farscape and Stargate SG-1.
The Expo is being held at the LA Convention Center November 5th and 6th and tickets are 12 dollars with kids under 12 getting free admission. Personally, I think the expo would be a bit better, considering we are talking tattoos and horror films, if children under 12 weren’t admitted at all. I don’t mean to sound like a randy goat, but this could be the con all of the Adrianne Currys of the world could gravitate to. Maybe next year.
The convention also hosts quite a few after parties you can check out on their site. As a special promotion, the expo is also allowing a free lifetime pass to Comikaze Expo if you get their logo tattooed some place visible on your body. Personally, I think it’s a bit early in our relationship for that kind of commitment. And certainly with this sort of guest list.
Check out the site and see if it’s your sort of event.
