SDCC 2026: All The Biggest Announcements And Reveals You Missed From This Year's San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 featured plenty of huge updates, including some big reveals and first looks from Marvel, DC, Amazon, and more major studios. Here's a roundup of the biggest talking points.

Another San Diego Comic-Con is in the books, and this year's effort was much stronger than 2025's. Marvel Studios was largely to thank for that, though DC put the spotlight on Lanterns in a big way and plenty of other studios took the chance to reveal first looks at future movies and TV shows.

Comic-Con isn't as big as it once was, but it can still be relied on for some huge announcements and surprises. It was another exceptionally busy weekend here on ComicBookMovie.com, so we've now rounded up all the biggest news in one place, just in case you missed it.

Marvel Studios brought Avengers: Doomsday's X-Men to Hall H, but there was no sign of the upcoming reboot's mutant team. That reveal is likely being saved for D23, but Kevin Feige more than made up for it in San Diego with some big surprises.

Ryan Gosling will star in a Ghost Rider reboot directed by Star Wars: Starfighter and Deadpool & Wolverine helmer Shawn Levy. Meanwhile, Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson is confirmed as the MCU's new T'Challa in Black Panther 3.

We also learned more about Avengers: Doomsday—the SDCC-exclusive trailer has since leaked online—and got a new story trailer for the upcoming Wolverine video game.

DC Studios was, unfortunately, largely absent from Comic-Con. Clayface got a few minutes of attention during Jim Lee's panel, but that was it. On the plus side, Lanterns' SDCC trailer greatly impressed fans, largely winning them over after a couple of so-so previous efforts.

Plenty of other big franchises came to San Diego, including The Lord of the Rings, Blade Runner, and Spaceballs. We also got a first look at Johnny Depp's mainstream return in Ebenezer, along with Matchbox The Movie, Carrie, and more.

Overall , I think this was a fun comic con atleast from an outsiders POV in terms of the trailers and stuff…

I’m very excited for Avatar Seven Havens personally and speaking of that franchise , how was the recent animated movie if anyone has seen it?.

I haven’t had the chance yet but will do so soon!!.

That was the most Try Hard Pick Me of a ComiCon ever. The bloom is way the [frick] off the rose, kids.

Are you excited for the new CONTENT? Which piece of CONTENT are you most excited to purchase the temporary viewing rights to?

Are you making a list of your FUNKOs and MERCH to buy?

@Batmangina - The content that i am most excited for is Thunderbolts: Doomsday.

@Batmangina - Quite honestly, the Blade Runner 2099 trailer was far and away my favorite reveal, and I'm also really looking forward to Lanterns. I don't know why peopole wouldn't be at least encouraged by the news of Ghost Rider and Black Panther. I'm sure Marvel will reveal more at their home field, D23, later in the summer. I have to admit, I'm not much of a merch guy (other than physical media versions of the movies themselves), so on that end of it, I can't judge. As for the "temporary viewing rights", are you including actual movie tickets, or just the streaming services which by now, most people utilize anyway? Because a movie ticket only lets you watch something once, and costs as much as a monthly subscription to any of the streamers.

@Patient2670 - Yeah the only wtaf moment for me was the "Matchbox" trailer...it seems like they took all the wrong notes from The Fast and The Furious franchise.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 7/27/2026, 1:07 PM
@TheRevelation - Agreed. I like Cena. He can be really funny, and seems to know exactly who he is and what he's goood at. But I'll be honest, Matchbox doesn't look like it's for me at all. Aside from the Temu version of F&F, the connection to the actual "matchbox" feels forced and tenuous at best. Who knows, I didn't think Minecraft would pull a billion dollars, or that Jumanji with the Rock, would be an entire trilogy. So maybe I'm simply not the audience. I wish them well, but probably won't get around to watching.

@Patient2670 - I actually still have my original Avengers Phase One BluRay Briefcase with the Tesseract in it - dead mint.

The death of physical media is what I was referring to - but tbh, I still have about 15,000 comics and haven't read a physical book in years.

I have 70,000 CBRs on a home server that I can stream to every device - iPad Pro looks [frick]ing amazing, so I have digital copies of everything and no longer buy anything in store.

I did get the MEGO Avengers Box Set and the MEGO Spidey Box - that's the last thing I gave $$$ to Disney for

Patient2670 - 7/27/2026, 3:39 PM
@Batmangina - It is a shame about the death of physical media. I still have all my disks and boxed sets. My prized one is the Blade Runner Briefcase with all the different versions of the movie along with the die cast spinner, the origami unicorn and all the artwork.
It was long ago, after a divorce that I no longer had room to store my single issue comics. Bummer that I had to sell them off, but definitely made a lot of money, as a lifelong collector. A lot of them, I had or was able to replace with collected editions of arcs. the walls were lined in bookcases, My kids wound up falling in love with comics that way.
As for toys and statues or collectables, not much. I do have a pretty good collection of theatrical original one-sheets, though only so much room to hang them, so a ton are in tubes, while only a select few are on display.

@Patient2670 - Good point, and I'm definitely not the audience lol...I wish em well though, I like everyone in that cast. Maybe it's building toward Matchbox v Hot Wheels or somethin.
Batmangina
Batmangina - 7/27/2026, 4:34 PM
@Patient2670 - I too, lost a LOT of stuff in The Divorce Wars. My OG MEGO stuff and about 20+ years worth of 70s/80s and 90s collectibles.

The iPad and YACReader is the greatest gift and old nerd can give themselves - I can literally read along with any nerd podcast and jump from decade to decade almost instantly.

I've transferred the old collector genes into digital versions and I have HQ scans of stuff that would be impossible to get - the scanned paper versions are fantastic - I'm NOT a fan of the recolored TPBs.

@TheRevelation - HAha! See, now that would be awesome... And it might just pave the way for that Transformers vs Go-Bots moovie we've all been begging for.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 7/27/2026, 5:04 PM
@Batmangina - @Batmangina - Yeah, Divorce sucks... Though, in my case, it sucks less than living with the Ex.

I agree about some of the recolored TPBs. Especially when they're printed on a different paper stock. That said, I do keep my first printing "The Killing Joke" right beside the anniversary edition hardback, where Bolland recolored the whole thing himself. I love both versions.

It was a great Con. Especially the toy reveals. Mezco is cookin🔥🔥 all you people who never have anything positive to say. Remember your words have power and you’ll always be miserable if all that ever comes out of you is negativity 🤷🏽‍♂️
TheAmericanHero
TheAmericanHero - 7/27/2026, 2:14 PM
@narrow290 - words have zero power. It's the willful energies within them that contain the power. You can literally give off the same energy by looking at someone. But you are correct, constant negative energy is poisonous and erodes at a person's character over time, while sending positive energy outward usually results in positive energy being returned.

narrow290 - 8/3/2026, 10:37 AM
@TheAmericanHero - of course words have power! God spoke the world into existence! Try not complaining about anything for a full week instead, speak positively and just watch how everything changes for the better

While a roundup is appreciated, Exactly which of these announcements does Josh think anybody missed? Plenty of people read JoBlo, just like he does. So we already heard these, hours before he plagerized the articles and gave the credit to MTTSH.

The Black Panther reveal was a bit disappointing. I am sure David Jonsson will do a good job, but I do think there was an opportunity to really deliver a Black Panther that could define the role. This casting is like the one where Michael Keaton was selected as Batman. He did fine, but if we could do it over again, I would have still gone with another person. For what it is worth, even though his is 39, I would have cast a relative unknown by the name of Aaron Cobham, last seen in the other Odyssey film... The Return (2024)
