Kevin Smith decided not to wait until SDCC and debuted the first trailer for the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot online today. The director's meta comedy adventure will see Jay (Jason Mewes) and his hetero life mate Bob (Smith) return to Hollywood to stop a reboot of the Bluntman and Chronic movie from getting made.

Before the trailer hit, Smith took to Instagram to share a poster and reveal that the new take on Chronic will be played by Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist.

The movie will also feature appearances from Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Rosario Dawson, Jason Biggs, Shannon Elizabeth, James Van Der Beek, and a certain Avenger who was looking a little husky the last time we saw him!

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is set to hit theaters in Fall 2019. Check out the red band trailer and a poster below, and let us know what you think.

Eh. I wanna get excited, but Kevin Smith hasn't made a good movie in forever.

Also, that's TWO trailers for new movies with Val Kilmer in them released today. Feels kinda weird.

Hope he’s doing better after his role in The Snowman. They ADR’d him because I think he may have had throat cancer?

Either way - couldn’t help but feel for the guy.

@MUTO123 - Every movie he's made is better than the movie you didn't.

I used to think Smith's movies were funny when I was a kid, and some of em still are IO guess, but this just looks way too juvenile.

@RorMachine

No doubt it’s juvenile. I still dig Clerks 2 and Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

His last few have been pretty shitty imo.

Some of it looks really fun but Smith hasn't made a decent movie in a long while. Hoping he knocks it out of the park here though.

Worst fear is that it coasts on all the big cameos.

Just amazing. That scene will forever be burned into the mind of teenage SimplyAz and the best thing was the first time I saw it I did not know that it was going to happen.

American Pie still holds up. [frick]ing hilarious movie and that scene is iconic. It would never be made today - but it is just so good.

Also a side note! Had late night hot dogs where they filmed the “Dog Years” scenes a couple weeks ago. It’s called Yesterdog in Grand Rapids, MI.

@regularmovieguy -

Yeah you're right, they'd never make it now.

That's awesome that you ate at where they filmed, hopefully those Hot Dogs were delicious.

I live ten to 15 minutes drive from Greenwich where some of Thor 2 was filmed which was nice to see on screen.

@SimplyAz

Yeah, that’s dope. Not every day you see those places. Pretty big location the movie too with the final act took place.

The hot dogs were okay haha it’s more of a solid late night food after a night at the bars.

I know people like to shit on Kevin Smith a lot, but he seems like a genuinely nice guy who loves to make movies. His films are not going to be masterpieces of film by no means but they are almost always good for a laugh and this one looks no different. It's good to see him and Affleck back togather again too.

I enjoy listening to Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin's podcast, and he comes across as such a fun guy who seems to be having a good time.
He also is quite self effacing when it comes to his recent movies and talks about how bad they are.

@SimplyAz - I've listened too his podcast too and feel the same. To me it's nice to see someone actually making movies he wants to make and brining his friends and family in on the fun.
