DAREDEVIL TV Series In The Works For Disney+ - Could Be A Continuation Of The Netflix Show

After a lot of speculation and fan anticipation, a Daredevil TV series is officially in development for Disney Plus, overseen by Covert Affairs co-creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord.

Good news has arrived for fans of the Man Without Fear.

Back in 2015, Charlie Cox brought Matt Murdock back into live-action with Netflix's Daredevil. The show lasted three seasons, and became part of Marvel TV's push to create an Avengers-style television universe. Following the series' cancellation in 2018, however, fans were eager to see Marvel Studios regain the ability to use the Man Without Fear (the company was unable to use the character for two years after his show ended, according to Variety).

Now, it finally appears to be a reality, because a new Daredevil TV series is officially in the works for Disney Plus.

Variety reports that Chris Ord and Matt Corman — who co-created USA Network's Covert Affairs and were co-showrunners for NBC's The Brave and The CW's Containment — have been tapped to co-write and executive-produce a Daredevil show for Disney's streaming service.

Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter seemed to indicate the series could be a continuation of Netflix's Daredevil, stating: "[The series] will be notable for being the first of the Netflix Marvel shows to get a new but continued series, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter." The wording is slightly unclear, so it's best to wait for more information. TVLine, however, called this new project a "Daredevil Revival."

Charlie Cox made headlines last year when he reprised the role of Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he acted as Peter Parker's lawyer after the Wall-Crawler was framed as a murderer by Mysterio. His comic-book archnemesis, Wilson Fisk, then made his MCU debut in Disney+'s Hawkeye, with Vincent D'Onofrio reprising his role from the Netflix/Marvel Universe.

If reports are to be believed, Daredevil could become a recurring figure in the MCU as development on his series continues. The hero has long been rumored to be featured in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the upcoming Echo (which recently had its first official image released online).

Prior to the release of No Way Home, Kevin Feige stated during an interview with CinemaBlend that Charlie Cox would be the MCU's Daredevil in any potential future appearances: "If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen."

@GhostDog - I just hope they don't tone down the violence. As much as I loved Moon Knight, Daredevil has to remain gritty. Daredevil's arc is the ugly side of being a vigilante. And I think Netflix was successful exploring that.

@SonOfAGif - I'll be happy if we get TWS and Civil War levels of violence at the least.

I figure they will embrace the Waid run tone and make Matt more hopeful. Which makes sense if this is loosely tied to the Netflix show. He ended season 3 in a better place emotionally.

@SonOfAGif - Based on the D+ track record, every character will joke like a nervous Spider-Man, and Daredevil will end up becoming a female heroine, after Matt has become useless.

@VictorAlonzo - You dislike every Disney+ show yet still comment on every Disney+ show. I think you have a jealous obsession at this point.

@SonOfAGif - I liked Moon Knight. I was a fan of Wandavision. What If had my favorite phase 4 scene with Vision breaking through to Uatu...
CapFalcon was bleh, Loki was worse, and Hawkeye was a shitstain on my memory bank. I am happy that you're paying attention though! What exactly am I jealous about?

@SonOfAGif - I don't see how they could tone down the violence if the original series is on the same platform

@VictorAlonzo - Considering the masses love the Disney+ shows and your distaste for specific shows, sequences, characters and what not has you being very vocal on whichever article you can find attention. I get it. The shows aren't for everyone. I personally didn't enjoy Hawkeye and felt it was the weakest show. But I expressed my negative opinion when the discussion was there. I didn't swarm every article bashing it or anyone who enjoyed it. That's weird.
VictorAlonzo
VictorAlonzo - 5/19/2022, 5:44 PM
@SonOfAGif - You just bash people that use their opinion where THEY want to make it known. Got it.

... For the record: I speak on things I don't like, because I want them to do better. If I order my Burger with extra pickle, I'd like extra pickle. Leave the pickle completely off the burger, and expect me to come in and get the order fixed. I don't like half ass outcomes of something I digest. This COULD be better. This SHOULD be better. I bet you never thank complainers for a product you enjoy more due to said complaints. Just sit back and let me do "my thang". If it registers, the work will benefit us all...
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 5/19/2022, 5:50 PM
@VictorAlonzo - That was the most bizarre comparison ever. You're comparing a product you "paid" for and didn't receive to a product Marvel produced and you didn't like and have the option to move on and let a consumer who enjoyed it enjoy it. Paying extra for something and not getting it is totally different from an already released product that comes with zero customization. My issue has zero to do with how you felt with a show. It's more so your dedication to constantly bash it whenever you feel there is an opportunity. No different from a person somehow finding a window to throw political jabs. I mentioned how I hope Daredevil keeps it's gritty aesthetic and you had to mention your disdain for Disney+. It's weird.

VictorAlonzo - 5/19/2022, 6:05 PM
@SonOfAGif - First, you lied saying I disliked every D+ show. Second, I'm not as vocal as you or anyone else, maybe you pay more attention to what I say. Heck, it adds up, based on your specific critic of my specific opinions. Third, you tell me not to state my opinion in irrelevant places, while doing the exact same thing! Lol. I paid to watch a show about a character I loved and put thousands of dollars into over the past 30+ years. If I expect to see a certain thing, I should not concern myself with other consumers who say "hey, it's good enough"! Thoughts like "accept whatever" is the reason 💩 sucks everywhere nowadays. My disdain for Disney+, in an article that says a gritty character just got a series at Disney +, is the reason I wrote what I wrote. Forgive me for assuming you had the mental fortitude to c o n n e c t the d o t s. My bad. Disney has done female versions of every og Avenger. It is not far-fetched to expect they'd do the same here. I hope I'm wrong.

@VictorAlonzo - He's right tho. This site has enough trolls complaining all the damn time. It's depressing to have to always look at this shit.

Also, your expressed opinion isn't changing anything over at Marvel Studios. They are successful with or without the detractors. And frankly, what you like / don't like about shows isn't ubiquitous. There are plenty of people that love the films and shows just how they are.

Btw, your food analogy would also imply you tell others what to get on their burger because it's what YOU like. Also, the writers and actors aren't taking orders so if you don't like it just go somewhere else.

@Tonic24k - He's not right. You just agree with him. Blocking me is your best option. I doubt I will stop telling people their idea is not good because someone else says I should. I have been a cheerful advocate for MARVEL, long before I knew either of you existed. I'll probably be here once you two decide what else is important to you in the years to come.

Tonic24k - 5/19/2022, 6:46 PM
@VictorAlonzo - I don't ever block anyone. Because I don't agree with you here doesn't mean I won't ever agree with you.

But yes, in this instance he is right. Your ill conceived analogy is what makes your outlook quite wrong. You can certainly have an opinion. But acting like something is bad just because your opinion is different than other's renders it devoid of perspective.

As for your last few lines, I've been a member of this site since 2008. You've been here less than a year. It's improbable to play out like you say.

But hey, if you return to being a "cheerful advocate of Marvel", I'd love for you to stay. Dudes like me and Grif just get tired of seeing the complainer committee always bringing some negative outlook.

@Tonic24k - Grif??? 🤣 🤣 🤣! I have been here for longer than my profile implies. Long enough to get that Grif joke. 👍 👍! I am a variant. Furthermore, I am a huge fan of the brand. I find it fascinating how you say they aren't taking orders, yet EVERYONE is doing the same thing! You tell me to go somewhere else, as if you have more jurisdiction on this website than anyone else. You are the one with the problem, you leave! I am not acting like something is bad, I'm speaking on what I don't like. If you were about to stumble blackout drunk into a Vegas casino floor, and put your life savings on a hard 6, should I say "hey he's having a good time- his life!", or say "hey friend, maybe you should think about what you're doing here. I think it's a terrible idea." Complaints should come as easy to the mind as cheers. Heck, Gif even said he didn't like Hawkeye! You act like Wanda is still running the city Bub! I want MARVEL to get better. BETTER! I don't want to say we had a good run. I want to learn to fly! Your opinion of my opinion is irrelevant. As mine should be to you. You don't agree? Say that! Bonus points if you could explain why in clear details. Telling me that I'm wrong or I should stop is lackluster at best. Can you explain what SonOfAGif was trying to imply about "the kind of person I am"? Are you two the same person?

@Tonic24k - Grif? Lol. Grif almost never says anything other than one lined hate sentences about a movie or show. In the 12 or 13 years we've been coming here I don't think I've ever seen him express his opinion about any other users.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 5/19/2022, 7:47 PM
@VictorAlonzo - "Going somewhere else" isn't some authoritative thing. It was meant to imply don't waste your time with shit you don't enjoy and go somewhere where they have things you do enjoy.

But hey dude, if you truly are a fan we can have a reasonable conversation. There are other trolls here tho that are incapable. Thing is, you came across as your opinion being some absolute thing and better than other's.

Also...why have a "variant" profile?

@Tonic24k - I don't feel like I'm wasting my time. Quite the opposite. I feel like I'm warning the ship about the iceberg ahead (too soon?). I have loved MARVEL too long to accept that stories should be incoherent, joke fests, catering to feminism as a defense mechanism for short-sighted storytelling. For example, I love She-HULK. I want to see a world of smart people in her story. People, significantly desensitized by the nonsense of the 616, but still trying to live a "normal life". Can this happen? Probably not. Thus is the foundation for her playground. Let the jokes land like a dagger from Bullseye. There's more than enough to play with, without ever forcing humor down our throats. Make it make sense. I want to see Fisk's lawyers cheat to win, nods to characters all over the place in subtle hints. More than anything, I want a good story. Make Jennifer lovable, tough, a good person, who'd rather sovle than nag. I want MARVEL to continue to impress again. Not just be happy they showed up. For the record: My opinion is absolute to ME. Like the Infinity Gems in Loki. They don't mean anything to your mind, but it means everything in my mind. Let a long-time fan rant in peace. You don't agree- make your claim. You do agree- throw a thumb up and allow me the pleasure of comrodery in critique. Mmkay?

@VictorAlonzo - Check it out. You're beginning to seem a lot more reasonable than the usual suspects of this site that just complain about EVERYTHING with no intelligent reason.

With that said, I don't particularly agree with your assessment of Marvel right now. The comics have always been progressive. I don't think they're "catering" to feminism, per se. I think they're simply being more inclusive. Which is the right thing to do. It's also the world we live in right now. A world where we endeavor to be more inclusive so different types of people can relate better to these characters and their circumstances. And allow me to remind you:

"This is Stan Lee coming at ya. Just want you to know, Marvel has always been and will be a reflection of the world outside your window. That world may change and evolve. But the one thing that will never change is the way we tell our stories of heroism."

@VictorAlonzo - You are crazy. You tagged yourself multiple times and then tagged me again to get me to return to this comment section to see all the bizarre responses you put to display your distaste for the female MCU characters. That's basically open bigotry at this point.
VictorAlonzo
VictorAlonzo - 5/20/2022, 4:28 AM
@SonOfAGif - Open bigotry? Which part did I fabricate? This is a beautiful display of two sides of the same coin. The Most bizarre thing here is you calling me names for what a company has done.
@Tonic24k- I genuinely appreciate your words, but I feel like they actually do more of a disservice than good. Why? Because MARVEL is not properly displaying inclusivity. MARVEL has a track record of displaying the idea that the only good female characters are tried and tested variants of Male characters! My favorite new character of phase 4 is Echo. From the beginning, she came in with a different angle, interesting backstory, and she seemed to be one who doesn't joke around! Bravo! Now, Taskmaster comparisons aside, I want to see more of her (I had to bring up Taskmaster.... I wanted to see a real version of Mr. Masters. He should've been so much more). Long story short- I am not a bigot. I am an observer. Show me something original, interesting, inspiring, & I will shout how great it is to the world, give me trash, and I'll call it the same. No matter who likes or dislikes it. Nuff' said.

Tonic24k - 5/20/2022, 5:05 PM
@VictorAlonzo - I share your sentiment to a degree. I do feel like female characters of their own are better. But this gripe goes to the comics for me, not the live action adaptations. All these female versions are just pulled from the Marvel catalog. But at the same time, we're still getting original characters like Scarlet Scarab, too.

Not to mention Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Wasp, etc.

Btw, Origame is one of the dudes I was referring to. He has no intellectual argument about anything ever. Just literally complains about everything. This is why you and I are now able to have a productive debate. I admittedly judged you too harshly too soon and realized you weren't at all like ol buddy.

But anyway, here's to some good quality Marvel action ahead! I hope Marvel Studios can deliver on Daredevil and everything else in the pipeline.
