HOLLYWOOD (Zap2it.com) -- A select group of two dozen critics -- including Zap2it attended the first-ever screening of the comic book/live action film "Daredevil" Friday morning (Jan. 31).
Director Mark Steven Johnson kicked off the screening on the 20th Century Fox backlot saying, "This is the first screening ever of the movie because we did not take it to test audiences."
The film, starring Ben Affleck as the blind superhero in the red mask, Colin Farrell as the bad guy Bullseye, Michael Clark Duncan as the bad guy named Kingpin and Jennifer Garner as the femme fatale Elektra, is this year's hot comic book-come-to-life like last year's "Spider-Man."
"I've been working on this for a few years and this has been a passion of mine since I was 10 years old," says the director, who made his directorial debut with "Simon Birch" in 1998. "I tried to make a character that in real life gets his ass kicked and wanted to make a soulful movie that is emotionally a little different."
The cast and crew will be giving interviews over the weekend in Pasadena, where Affleck is staying with his bride-to-be Jennifer Lopez, according to sources. The actress also owns a restaurant, Madiera, in Pasadena.
"I'm dying to know what you all think about this, since you're the first audience, but I have to go to a DVD meeting about this, right now," Johnson says as the lights go down.
Although Zap2it and the other critics are asked not to divulge details about the film before the Feb. 14 release date, we can say audiences should stay in their seats after the final credits begin to role. That's the only way you'll find out what happens to bad guy Bullseye!
