It's been over two years since we learned that DC Studios was developing a Deathstroke & Bane team-up movie from a script by Captain America: Brave New World and Moon Knight writer Matthew Orton.
For fans of the iconic villains, it was considered an exciting development. Very little has been revealed since, though fans continue to question why James Gunn and Peter Safran are seemingly prioritising two villains over the likes of Batman and Wonder Woman.
What we do know is that Peacemaker Season 2 director Greg Mottola is reportedly the frontrunner to helm Deathstroke & Bane, which now appears to have a working title.
According to Deadline, the movie will be called Savage Hunters. That doesn't give us much to go on, and it doesn't seem to be a title with a basis in the comic books. However, it may imply that Slade Wilson and Bane will be bounty hunters or something along those lines.
It's not hugely surprising that Gunn is eager to develop a project in the same vein as The Suicide Squad. Unfortunately, there's nothing to suggest Batman will clash with either of his longtime foes in Savage Hunters (unless The Brave and the Bold quickly takes shape and the DCU's Caped Crusader makes a cameo appearance, of course).
Very much like Sony's Marvel Universe—which didn't have a Spider-Man—it seems DC Studios is prioritising Batman's villains in movies without Bruce Wayne in them. First up is this month's R-rated horror movie, Clayface, which isn't expected to feature Batman despite being set in Gotham City.
For what it's worth, the trade reports that The Brave and the Bold, Savage Hunters, Teen Titans, Swamp Thing, and Wonder Woman are all in early development and have yet to be greenlit. As of now, there's no word on what movies will follow Man of Tomorrow, as DC Studios currently has nothing scheduled for 2028 and beyond.
Bane was born in the fictional Caribbean prison of Peña Duro, where he was forced to serve a life sentence from birth. Using a drug called Venom to enhance his physical power, his most iconic feat came when he "broke the Bat."
Deathstroke, a.k.a. Slade Wilson, is a highly skilled mercenary and assassin who gained enhanced strength, agility, and intelligence through a government experiment. Known for his tactical genius and expert combat skills, he's targeted many heroes over the years, including Batman and the Teen Titans.
