DEADPOOL 2 Will See Ryan Reynolds Receive His First Screenwriting Credit

Ryan Reynolds reportedly wanted greater creative control over the Deadpool sequel in a move that saw Tim Miller exit. Well, he certainly got it as he'll reportedly be listed as a co-writer on the film.

The official writers for Deadpool 2 are Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Ryan Reynolds. That's the trio listed on the 20th Century Fox website as the writing team responsible for the script.

Whether the Writers Guild of America will officially acknowledge Reynolds as a writer remains to be seen.  This latest development comes after Reynolds also received a producer's credit.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18.  Check out the latest trailer below.

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Reynolds certainly had his way with the script then.

@GoldGuy

Reynolds, Wernick, and Reese all contributed to the script. As did Drew Goddard.

Well considering he adlibbed so much on the first movie, he should've gotten a credit on that as well.

This movie is not going to be nearly as good as the first movie.

I have a feeling that that "no third movie" exchange in the trailer is going to be very prescient.

@411IDSigo - you’d prefer to let Tim Miller make it “less raunchy “ and cast Kyle chandler as cable

The new trailer didn't raise any red flags for me. The more I see Brolin's take on Cable, the more I like it.

When they released the first photo of him, I was a little worried based on his design, but he looks pretty badass in the few scenes we've seen of him.

I also think Cable being the villain in DP2 isn't the case. It's definitely Black Tom Cassidy.
