Things took a turn for the worse for Solo: A Star Wars Story (again) this weekend as Deadpool 2 managed to return to the top spot at the international box office, dethroning the spinoff after just one week at #1. The R-Rated sequel managed to amass a whopping $41.6 million in 79 markets, including Japan where it debuted with $5.5 million just days after Ryan Reynolds started promoting it there.
Now, the movie has managed to earn a total of $344 million overseas and $225 million in North America to take its worldwide cume up to $598 million. As a result, it should pass $600 million soon.
As previously reported, Solo currently sits at $115.3 million internationally and an underwhelming $264.2 million worldwide. It opens in Japan at the end of this month but that's unlikely to make a huge difference to its global haul. Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, is faring considerably better because that made a total of $34.7 million this weekend to take its global tally up to $1.96 billion. $2 billion is looming and the Marvel Studios movie will hopefully surpass that number in the next few weeks.
