DEADPOOL Gets A 15 Rating In The UK; Plus New Image With 'Vanessa Carlyle' And A Mask-Less 'Wade Wilson'
Deadpool may be rated R in the US, but it might not be quite as graphic as we've been led to believe if the UK and Ireland rating is anything to go by. More past the jump...
When Deadpool was officially rated R in the US it was for “strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity.” This makes it sound like it should warrant an 18 cert in the UK and Ireland, but it seems the British Board of Film Classification have rated the film 15, which is basically the equivalent of a PG-13. That would be for “strong bloody violence, strong language, sex references.”
Sounds a bit tamer, right? Ah well - perhaps the MPAA are just a little more squeamish than the BBFC when it comes to superhero flicks.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool is set to be released on February 12th, 2016.
