Many of you will have taken yesterday off to celebrate Thanksgiving, but in the UK, cameras were once again rolling on Deadpool 3.
Executive producer Wendy Jacobson confirmed work had resumed with an Instagram post captioned, "This Thanksgiving, I'm grateful for the gifts of being back at work and watching the sun rise from set today. Speaking of gifts, these icons return to the big screen July 26, 2024." Thus far, no set photos have circulated so we're guessing the cast and crew weren't on location.
There's a chance we'll see more from Deadpool 3 before 2023 ends, but a trailer is unlikely to drop until next year. The Merc with the Mouth's MCU debut will be the only Marvel Studios movie we get in 2024, but we have What If...? season 2 and Echo to look forward to before then.
In other news, Ryan Reynolds recently caught up with Vancouver Sun and was asked about the many rumours surrounding Deadpool 3. Chief among them, of course, is the one suggesting singer Taylor Swift will appear either as herself or fan-favourite mutant, Dazzler (another possibility is a Deadpool Variant)
"Yeah, I've heard that one...I love [the gossip]," the actor laughed. "I think it is a sign of how eager people are to get a peek behind the curtain in this world. Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26."
At this point, it would be a major disappointment for Swift to not appear, and Marvel Studios has the opportunity to capitalise on her immense level of popularity with a cameo. If she sings as Dazzler, then that will be another big draw for what could be the first Multiverse Saga movie to top $1 billion.
Alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.
Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Wesley Snipes, and even Loki star Owen Wilson among those rumoured or expected to appear.
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
