DEADPOOL 3: Why Is Ryan Reynolds Wearing THAT Specific Suit In Wolverine Announcement Video?

The first Deadpool 3 teaser left us with a lot to discuss, though the specific costume worn by Ryan Reynolds may be more important than you first realised. It was also first shown off earlier this month...

Earlier this month, Blake Lively took to social media to share some photos announcing her pregnancy. Husband Ryan Reynolds was understandably in many of those shots, with one showing the actor in his battle-damaged suit from the final act of Deadpool 2

Most fans assumed the photo was snapped on the set of the sequel, but upon closer inspection, we now see it's from yesterday's Deadpool 3 announcement video. The background matches and Reynolds can even be seen wearing that greyed-out suit in the teaser as he sits down and attempts to write the threequel's screenplay.

The question is, why?

It's not as if Deadpool 2 was shot chronologically with the actor's only costume legitimately left in this state after his fight with The Juggernaut! In fact, we have to believe Reynolds probably has at least a few pristine Deadpool suits lying around, so what's the significance of this one being used in a video announcing Deadpool 3's 2024 release?

Well, it might just be a clue for what we can expect from the upcoming movie. We'd bet on the story picking up right where the last one left off, with the Merc with the Mouth's time-travel shenanigans quite possibly what leads to his team-up with Wolverine (which we're guessing ultimately strands Wade Wilson in the MCU).

Reynolds has become a master at marketing, so it's obvious that there's a reason for the suit's inclusion. If we're right that Deadpool 3 picks up where the last movie left off, chances are Cable, Domino, Colossus, and Teenage Negasonic Warhead will also be back. If so, perhaps the grey suit is a sign that fans will finally get to see X-Force on the big screen?

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige got his start in Hollywood working on the X-Men franchise, so him being the one who closes the door on that universe makes sense. We just hope that it's left open wide enough for Hugh Jackman and a few other actors from that era to be part of Avengers: Secret Wars!

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on September 6, 2024.

Can I be the first to say- unless SW is gonna be 4-5 hours long it’s not possible to have a coherent movie while also having all these cameos.

They literally had to cut the cast in half so Endgame could fit in the callbacks and references from a story point and not just be jumping around from reference to reference

@DCasAhobby - I’m not throwing anything under the bus. Im excited to see SW. I’m merely pointing out the logistics of wanting every possible cameo isn’t gonna happen like I see a lot of fans thinking it will. The comic event had multiple issues over months to do and show all that. This at most has 3 hours it’s literally not possible unless you just want a 3 hour clip show with “ooh look at this former character from this failed franchise”

@ShimmyShimmyYA - Civil War was pretty coherent, I don’t know maybe I’m in the minority that says it’s my favorite CBM

@TheWalkingCuban - civil war was about as many “main” players as endgame when you think about it maybe a couple more for EG. I’m just referencing how many people fans want to show up in SW like it’s insanity to think that’s possible without it either being the longest movie ever or just a highlight reel which I don’t want at all

@ShimmyShimmyYA -
orrrrrr you could just wait to see the movie before throwing it under the bus.

Especially because the haters will be the vocal loud minority getting on everybody nerves while the film is raging success. It'll do Endgame numbers at the BO while not getting under an 80% RT.

It'll be a once in a lifetime wildly successful film with a bunch of jealous haters rushing every article crying about the film praying their blind hate somehow takes the sting off the most potent ass whooping in nerdom we've ever seen.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - Well, there's also Disney+. Marvel could use that to tell Secret Wars tie-in stories, in the form of mini-series and specials.

A cameo only has to take a few seconds in the actual film. Of course that would not be enough to do all of them justice, so Disney+ could be employed as a useful story-broadening tool to do justice to every character and returning actor that people want to see.

They can still have a very small role or moment in the film without it taking up much of the runtime.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - what cameos are you expecting? I'm thinking Tobey's and Andrew's Spider-Men, Stewart's Xavier, Hugh's Wolverine, some First Class cameos (preferably Fassbender's Magneto) and the 2024 Fantastic Four.

It's not a lot of characters, but on top of the 10 or so new Avengers I can see it get crowded too. I don't expect to see every movie or show's secondary characters though

bkmeijer1 - 9/28/2022, 11:56 AM
@ObserverIO - a Battleworld show set between Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars would be pretty cool.

The movies can be used to push the narrative, whereas the show can just show what some of the characters are up to.

TheWalkingCuban - 9/28/2022, 11:57 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - Main characters plus highlight reel when done effectively has good results. Don’t be determined to be unhappy
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 9/28/2022, 12:03 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Idk tbh but by the time it drops we’ll have the avengers aka just the heroes (which is exploding in size) the thunderbolts BP cast somewhat involved the f4 some form of the guardians maybe eternals and that’s just heroes then, cameos I’d guess both spideys , maybe both Prof X / magneto or at least the young ones maybe someone from the OG F4 the what if characters etc etc

That’s not including anyone new they might introduce in the movie or in between then.

I do like @ObserverIO idea of using Disney+ shows / one shots the same way they use tie in comics

I also say this feeling like kang dynasty won’t have that many heroes in it outside of who feige considers the avengers and maybe the f4 .

I think SW is the one they want to be the big event with KD as the lead in (hopefully ends with doom betraying kang and creating battle world in order to rule the multiverse )

Idk if any of that makes sense but yeah

ShimmyShimmyYA - 9/28/2022, 12:05 PM
@TheWalkingCuban - I’m not determined to be unhappy I guess my comment came off that way? I just don’t know how much they can fit in what will probably be a 3 hour movie if it’s going to include cameos from almost every live action marvel movie since 2000 unless it’s just a crowd scene and even then what’s the point ya know? Oh well I still trust Feige + co (hopefully coogler directs ) and look forward to it
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 9/28/2022, 12:09 PM
@bkmeijer1 - We could also explore the different realms.

As far as cameos, I personally wanna see just everyone. Endgame on crystal meth.

My main pull would be Miles Teller as Ultimate Reed Richards/The Maker.

I also think if we don't see the Spider-bros from NWH, there will be a lot of disappointed fans. Maybe they should take the role that Peter and Miles played in the comics.

Before the Multiverse Saga is over, though, I would personally like to see Ben Affleck reprise his role as Matt Murdock. Maybe looking something like this:

@ShimmyShimmyYA - I gotcha, understood. As for a Director, Russos
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 9/28/2022, 1:21 PM
@ObserverIO - isn’t miles one of the more important people in the story? I haven’t read it since It happened but I’m pretty sure he’s one of the “survivors” that remembers life outside of doom battleworld
Origame
Origame - 9/28/2022, 11:04 AM
Dude, you just got played. They did this same thing with the Deadpool 2 trailer. They left in a hemingway segment that ended up having nothing to do it simply because they knew it would raise theories. It's Reynolds being a troll.
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 9/28/2022, 11:07 AM
@Origame - yeah if anything Reynolds keeps it tight knit until the trailers . Maybe the juggernaut bob ross thing but I also think that was people reading too much into it
SwiggitySw00ty
SwiggitySw00ty - 9/28/2022, 6:38 PM
@Origame - They were going to make a X-Force movie with Reynolds though.
Origame
Origame - 9/28/2022, 6:49 PM
@SwiggitySw00ty -...what does that have anything to do with anything? The article has to do with him wearing specifically the destroyed suit from the end of Deadpool 2 and why that means the movie must be continuing where that movie left off from.
SwiggitySw00ty
SwiggitySw00ty - 9/29/2022, 1:09 PM
@Origame - I'm saying Josh might be right about it being a X-Force tease.

Ryan Reynolds is like one of those jokes that intentionally goes on too long and starts to get annoying, but it goes on so long it starts to become funny again. As soon as I think I've had enough of his shtick, I find myself laughing again at his antics.

Norm Macdonald was good at telling those type jokes. I'm very hyped for this movie.

@DarthOmega - no. Not funny anymore. I got sick of him years ago. Kinda like my wife.

I'm all for the fun of seeing Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine, but Logan was really the perfect swan song for the character there. Hopefully they make this worth it.

Some adaptation of Messiah War would be really awesome. Even if it has the DP2 team and not the whole team from the comics. Follow up on the Cable/Hope story and have Stryfe as the villain. Bonus is you can get Brolin in a dual role this way. The “road trip” comment from Reynolds could indicaste a time traveling road trip.
SwiggitySw00ty
SwiggitySw00ty - 9/28/2022, 6:36 PM
@mountainman - They should replace Stryfe with a Kang variant.
Fares
Fares - 9/28/2022, 11:09 AM
If they're going to put Wolvie in a costume, the X-Force version is certainly easier to sell than the yellow one.
