As most of you know, a Deadpool spinoff in works at Fox studios. Here's some more info...

Fresh off the muscular performance of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" at the boxoffice, Fox has thrown into development a spinoff featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called "Deadpool." Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.

Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in "Wolverine" until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut.

It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in "Wolverine," though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug.

The project is out to writers.

Fox considered a "Deadpool" spinoff early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds. The actor was brought back in the month before the movie's release to shoot one of two "Easter egg" scenes that appeared after the end credits. The scene showed Deadpool alive, though when last audiences saw him, he appeared to be dead.

They need to start production on this and Wolverine 2 by the end of the year. Over the next 3 years I expect to see this, Wolverine 2, and X-Men First Class hit theaters. First Class already has a few script drafts and cast members, it is just progressing slowly, much like Thor.

Im sort of lost...If Fox owns the rights to the characters...how is Marvel going to make the movie? or is it Fox?

And why did Marvel give up its characters that was not in x-men like dead pool?

Or is it like a trick...
In the movie they never actualy said he was "Dead Pool", just that he inbodies all the powers of mutants like a Dead Pool.

other than that I heard them call him Wade, but dont remember him being called Wade Wilson...????

Oh and...

Cool !

Weapon XI isn't played by Ryan Reynolds. It's played by Scott Adkins. This leads me to believe the rumor that they cloned Deadpool to make this Weapon XI character. With this possibility, they didn't screw things up too badly. Maybe Fox will get their heads out of their butts for future Xmen movies.

Just to answer some of you. I posted this cos i found it whilst i was browsing for x men info, and i though some of you might like to get some more info *shrug*

Though if that guy was a clone, then i think they screwed up x-men big time :/

bssheehan76: I remember Ryan Reynolds playing Wade throughout. And yes, even in the interactions with Jackman at the end. Now Adkins, they brought him in to do some of the fight coreography that Raynolds couldn't do, and if you paid close attention, all of the close up shots of Pool's face were Reynold's.
Also, you might want to watch the alternate Deadpool ending at the end of the credits, this might dash your hopes of a "clone" possibility. I know it did mine.

I really want him to break the 4th wall like in that movie Alfie where he is constantly talking to the audience

they destroyed him to make deadpool. Just give em a chance with it, maybe they will acknowledge what they did wrong and fix it. But probaly not, just a thought. and the part of using other mutant powers if they do not go overboard with it may be okay. I Could be wrong

Hey, I heard one of the writers sharpened his pencil...?

Ok, I get it. People have a hard-on for Deadpool. But can we get a grip? The littlest bit of news does not need to be written, re-written and re-hashed every minute. It's just like everyone complaining about the character before the movie was even out.

I like Deadpool too. But just because the 3rd Grip has hemorrhoids is not a reason to celebrate.....it is new news.

@adamant
I know that Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool throughout the movie, but in the credits at the end of the movie, it says only Scott Adkins for the Weapon XI character. If he was only brought in for stunt double work, then he would have been listed as so. I still believe they were tricking Wolverine and the audience with whether or not Weapon XI was actually Deadpool. And I saw the alternate ending with Weapon XI in the rubble of the nuclear reactor in the theatres, and I don't see why that proves he wasn't a clone of Deadpool. And to Weapon XI looking like Reynolds on close ups at the end: Maybe Fox spent all of their money for CGI on making that look like Reynolds, because we all know they didn't spend any good money on making anything else look realistic.
@bomblu
I think the only way they can save themselves, staying true to any sort of story line, is if they make Weapon XI a clone and Deadpool is fine in one of their facilities somewhere. Who knows what they actually did to Deadpool after they captured him.

Thanks for the info, I will most certainly share it.

agree with you bsheehan yet I dont know why they put in Adkins casted as Weapon XI. Surely, lot of the fight scenes were done by Adkins but everytime its a close up, its Reynolds still as adamant has said. Anyone can notice the when it is Reynolds and when it is Adkins coz although Reynolds got a hot bod (oooooh), Adkins is much much leaner.

I remember some scenes in trailers/screenshots here before where you can see Adkins face but in the movie, they superimposed Reynolds face on him.

Fox need to bring in Joe Kelly and Fabian Nicieza as well as consultants on the script.

yeah we all knew they'd do it as long as Wolverine didn't tank....which we all know won't happen. I'd love to see them make it where deadpools regenerative ability causes him to reject all the other powers...but moreso i'd like to see him break the 4th wall and say something like: "now they want you to believe that my regenerative ability rejected all my other powers...but really the writers are just covering their as*es after that bad idea in the last movie." or something of the sort. that'd be hilarious.
moreover...i'm interested in wolvie 2...japan stuff...i'd like to see ken watanabe as silver samurai...
i'd also like to hear more about this 'Young Xmen' spinoff idea...i'd like to see that with Gambit in it. Heres my idea for characters for that:

Young Beast (before he's blue...or he turns blue at some point in the movie)

Young Cyclops (played by the guy who played him in Wolverine)

Young Jean Grey

Young Storm

Gambit (with Taylor Kitch getting his accent down better).

and of course Prof X.

it'd be cool if Blob was a villian (played by the same guy as in wolverine)
and maybe they could try to fix the let down that was juggernaut. hhhmmm.

For those that don't know, Deadpool is a part of the X-Men franchise even in the comics. I am very surprised that some of you don't know that, especially those of you claiming to be such fans of DP.

Warner Bros should think about a Deathstroke film! How cool would that be? The cut-throat assassin!

Obviously he's not as funny as our boy Wade but you know.. More violence!

No, the Deadpool movie will be terrible. Just like every other Fox movie. Everyone shouldnt even bother posting this crap up anymore. I know for sure, Ive gave up on FOX.

This Star Trek Requel was one of the best Flick I've seen in my Life. I'm more of a script driven person, and that movie was Great from beginning until the end. Fox can learn from J.J.Abrams.

I love Deadpool...love him. One of my fav characters, and Fox [frick]ed him. Swords out of his arms? Really??? He's a mercenary, not Baraka from Mortal Kombat for Christ sake!

It's evident that Fox does not give a crap about...

1) source material
2) Building tension so action scenes pay off (they'd rather have a lot of mindless action. Maybe these guys should watch THE DARK KNIGHT a couple times to see how it's done)
3) or pissing off a bunch of nerds

Listen, I've heard people say "WOLVERINE wasn't that bad, why can't all these nerds just chill?" The bottom line is that it was a poor movie. When the bar is set high with comic book jems like Spider-Man 2, X2, The Dark Knight, etc...you expect a comic book movie to treat characters and themes with respect. When they messed up Deadpool in WOLVERINE (among many other characters), I guarantee it was because Tom Rothman and those other Fox people were sitting in a room saying, "What if we gave him swords that came out of his arms? That would be cool." They don't care. They want money. And I know all movies are trying to make money, but none so blatantly as Fox.

Regardless, I love Deadpool and will see a spin off movie with him (partly because I'm an idiot), but I might have to steal it, because I can't give Fox anymore of my money. Ryan Reynolds? Wonderful. Just wished he could talk more. That's it.

im still curious exactly, because the "deadpool" in x-men origins supposedly had all the powers of the mutants held on strykers island.... then why did he only use teleport, cyclop's eye beam, and the regeneration???? any help??
