Ryan Reynolds Says DEADPOOL Has Taken "Tiptoes Forward" In The Last Couple Of Weeks

Are 20th Century Fox FINALLY moving forward with Deadpool? Talking about the "minimal budget" and leaked script which ended up online, Ryan Reynolds seemingly hints that the last few weeks may have seen some sort of development on the movie finally move forward. Read on for details!

"[In] its current iteration the movie’s actually very small,. There’s minimal impact to the studio, which is the way we’re kind of presenting it to them. We’re saying ‘Look, the budget is minimal. Therefore, can we do this the way it should be done?’ Which unfortunately needs a Rated R [age certificate] or it needs those elements. The script is probably available online, it leaked.

But it’s very meta, I mean the character knows he’s in a movie, he knows he’s in a comic book. He names studio executives in the script. So, it’s kind of a risky property. But, you know, we’ll see. It's actually, within the last couple of weeks, taken a few very, very small tiptoes forward. In our lifetime? Yeah, I think so. I think if I were a betting man it’ll get made, eventually. I mean it’s just been developed to high heaven. It has great people around it, so we’ll see."

What do you guys think these "very, very small tiptoes forward" could be? Hopefully we'll see this iteration of Deadpool on the big screen sooner rather than later!

i would love to see a RR deadpool movie, but if it was such a priority to him he would get off his ass and work with them, stop accepting so many movies roles, they have a director, they have an aproved script, they are all waiting on you ryan. SO GET ON THAT!!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was rated PG13, seeing that DP has appeared in Ultimate Spider-Man and Lego Marvel Superheroes.

@niklander I agree if he doesn't get a good movie like Deadpool before long his career may be done for. Honestly the only two roles I've ever liked him in were Wade Wilson and GL.

I read the script and thought it was excellent. IF they stick to it with the right director and Reynolds really lets it all hang out, this could be a huge surprise hit.

Let it rest. It isn't going to happen (and me personally I don't think a Deadpool movie should ever happen but that's just me.) As for this current iteration, it's six feet under already.

Fox was stupid not to make this before The Wolverine

What have I missed? When did the script leak? Does anybody know where I can find it?

He was a good Deadpool but if they make a movie about him, will he have all the superpowers they added at X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Merc WITH(out) a mouth??

It's like a curse, every superhero movie he is in is doomed, not because of his acting but because of bad writing. And I don't know if I can trust people who divorced ScarJo...

Man, he looks like Lucas Black the way that video is paused. Didn't they kill Wade at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Another Fox continuity [frick] up...

TDP the script leaked about 2 years ago from the writers of Zombieland and it was entertaining. I couldn’t tell you where to find it now cause my old link has been taken down.

I think Deadpool if done correctly can extend the Superhero movie genre. He can openly make fun of the flaws in the genre good guy vs bad guy, good guy wins gets the girl formula and put a major twist on it. They have a breakout hit even if they run with a production budget of 100 mil or so.

This needs to happen, if only to get another film in the spirit of "Shoot 'Em Up" and "Last Action Hero".

LOL, like I said, another [frick] up. If that is the case, why do they have to wait for RR? If anything, that is only going to serve the purpose to confuse the audience. And do you change and retell his origins? Eww... It reeks already. It may very well be good - if it ever happens - but it seems to have more reasons to fail.

@SlaveMasterFlexXX, really? So, knowing this isn't going to be connected when they are using the same actor from the previous iteration is common knowledge? Sorry, I guess I missed that article.

@Nomis, in all fairness Reynolds was perfect in the Origins movie, PERFECT. It's not fair to take away what Fox has gotten right. Now, that mouthless abomination at the end was not Reynolds from what I understand.

Ryan Reynolds is the only actor I can think of with the action capabilities and the comedic talent to bring Deadpool to life properly.

Watch him in Van Wilder (comedy), Blade: Trinity (don't care if no one liked the movie, he was awesome as Hannibal King), even check out The Amityville Horror, he makes a convincing psychopath.

And we all saw him absolutely kill it as Wade Wilson in Origins, before they [frick]ed everything up with Barakapool.

I would love to see this movie made, done right, and be the best R-rated CBM to ever grace the big screen.

I want my favorite Canadian psychopathic mercenary with an attitude dammit! And I want Bob from Hydra in the movie, and Weasel!

@SlaveMasterFlexXx I'm sorry but I'm going to have to stop you right there. You are making BS assumptions to a movie that doesn't even have a script prepared or a cast. Completely pulled from your ass. And I love how you make it seem that Fox are the only companies that are guilty of this. As much of a fan I am of Superman, Captain America, and Cyclops; DC will always give us Batman, Ironman is Marvels cover boy rather than Cap, and Sony has only Spidey. Those characters sell and if anything they are much more popular to the general audience. Don't fix what isn't broken. I may not agree with it but as a business it's smart. And I like how you throw all the Wolverine fans under the bus that actually appreciate all the movies he's in. Of course I'm not speaking for the ones that want masked 5'8' Wolverine but I'm speaking for the ones who enjoyed X1, X2, and The Wolverine. Wolverine needed to be a central character in those films because the sub-storyline was about HIM. Sure I wanted more Cyclops but I can live with what they have done because I enjoyed their movies and they were great. Hell, you can't even acknowledge that First Class was made and it had no Wolverine other than a cameo.
