Back in February, it was near impossible to predict that 20th Century Fox's Deadpool would become the voice of a generation, that one of Marvel's most obscure heroes, played by Ryan Reynolds, would become a cultual phenom, but somehow they managed to pull it off... and then some. On a modest budget of approximately $58 million, the Tim Miller-directed film managed to rake in over $782 million worldwide making it one of the most profitable blockbusters of all-time as well as the ninth highest grossing superhero movie ever.

Earlier this afternoon, co-creator Rob Liefeld (via ComicBook) released an SDCC-exclusive poster he designed that featuren the cast of the hit film reimagined in his signature art style. Check it out below:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool features:
Director: Tim Miller
Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool
Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle/Copycat
Ed Skrein as Francis/Ajax
Gina Carano as Angel Dust
T.J. Miller as Jack Hammer/Weasel
Brianna Hildebrand as Ellie Phimister/Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Stefan Kapicic as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus
Leslie Uggams as Blind Al
Jed Rees as The Recruiter

Taylor Hickson as Meghan Orlovsky

@CuddlyCereal - Makes you wonder if it was a self depreciating inside joke with the fan or not. He always tries to cut the feet out of everything he does because he's horrible at drawing body proportions.

One of Marvel's most obscure heroes? Deadpool wasn't obscure at all. He had a massive fanbase years before the movie was ever released.

There are 500 characters that are way more obscure than Deadpool ever was. How many of you know who Typeface is? Precisely.

I like Liefeld's drawing style. There are a lot of artists who don't have a good handle on anatomy but are great storytellers. Ramos, Maduriera. the Kuberts. It's better than reading the work of another bland photoshop line-tracer.

That's pretty good for Liefeld.

Gotta admit that that's some of the best art from Rob Liefield in like...ever. The proportions are actually pretty accurate. Maybe he's used some of the money he probably got from Deadpool (I assume he has an interest in the character he created) to take a few anatomy classes.

@Kozmik - He probably colored over an actual photo.
