Disney's Streaming Service Price Less than Netflix

Disney's Streaming Service Price Less than Netflix

Disney's planned streaming service looks to offer a whole lot of the House of Mouse at your fingertips. Seems you will be dishing out less than your Netflix budget - at least at first.

You may have already heard that Disney is planning on launching its own Streaming Service much like Netflix, Hulu and many others.  But with so many similar content providers currently littering the market, people are going to have to pick and choose based on value and appeal.

Disney CEO Bob Iger states:  “Our plan on the Disney side is to price this substantially below where Netflix is,That is in part reflective of the fact it’ll have less volume,”

There hasn't been a very specific price named yet, however many experts are estimating a $5/month fee.  The service however, is expected to raise in price as they add more content to the library available.  No word on exactly how much content will be available at launch.

Disney already has a massive presence on Netflix, however they are phasing out those licences in anticipation of its estimated 2019 launch.  A new live action Star Wars ongoing series is expected to be a featured product on the new streaming service.

A lot more people that said they wouldn't pay for this will pay for this.
$5/month for shows like Daredevil. That's 1/3 the price of a single viewing movie ticket...
That's 2 1/2 bottles of soda from a vending machine. That's how i personally decide if my purchases are worth it.

@Beetleborg - The Star Wars and Marvel content is definitely worth it alone.

5 dollars a month? Hard for it not to be worth it at that price.

I wonder how big the Disney vault is? Would be cool to see how deep the master library is of old and new footage of things and how they keep it! They should just put everything the own and ever done on it! Wouldn't hurt ppl are gonna buy the product and physical copies still.

1- First Step: Get people onboard with cheap prices.

2- Second Step: Wait for them to get hooked to the service.

3- Raise the prices after a while.

4- ???

5- Profit!

@doomsday619 - Damn. So in the UK, it’s kind of a multimedia entertainment package. Interesting. I am so glad I don’t have children. I would go insane having to listen to/watch all of that content!

@TomSolo - I have 5 children so this house it is basically on Disney Channel 24/7.
Although with 5 son's they do share my passion for comic book's, movie's and TV shows so I do get a little reprieve ever now and again.

Hear that Netflix. That's the sound of you getting stabbed in the back.

@billnye69 - Netflix had to know they wouldn't be the only kid on the block forever.

I wouldn't really call it getting stabbed in the back. Things are going toward streaming services and it makes perfect sense fir Disney to do this.

@billnye69 - Well, 8 signed up for Hulu so I could watch all of the CW superhero shows the day after they aired and paid more to watch them without commercials. Then Netflix grabbed them from Hulu, and now you have to wait until the next season to watch the previous season.

But those shows started to go downhill about that time, so maybe I should be thanking Netflix, as I stopped watching them altogether. :)

I really wonder when DC will release their streaming service. If they do it before Disney does, it may be very helpful to them. Once Disney releases their streaming service, I have a feeling that a lot of people will already have committed to something new and will not be willing to pay for DC content as well.

I was skeptical bout paying for yet another’s streaming service (I have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Apple Music) but at this price point, I’m on board. Especially if this Disney/Fox deal goes through.

TomSolo - 11/10/2017, 9:12 AM
@Santanaonfire - Oh, I think that if the Fox deal goes through, it will raise the price. I am just speculating though.
Santanaonfire
Santanaonfire - 11/10/2017, 10:08 AM
@TomSolo - Agreed. It’s inevitable that they will raise prices, but even when Netflix or Hulu has done this, they have been palatable increases and generally come with more content, so I’m cool with that.

ok but isnt disney a kind of children thing?, so how can you make adults be interested on disney content? since is for children it may be really weird to mix netflix marvel shows and disney for little children, if they do this they should change the name and not name it disney
TruePunishment
TruePunishment - 11/10/2017, 2:12 PM
@2pacman - there are droves of adults who love Disney movies. Not to mention, Disney owns Star Wars and Marvel.

its hard for me to argue with 5.00 a month. If you have kids, this might be a good buy.
