Get ready to see a whole new world! Good Morning America is hopping aboard a magic carpet and riding into Agrabah tomorrow. The show announced today that the first full-length trailer for Guy Ritchie's live-action adaptation of
Aladdin will premiere tomorrow morning.
Disney has been keeping Aladdin close to its sleeve - having released just
two brief teasers to date - but with the highly anticipated adaptation flying into theaters in May, fans are eager for a proper look.
We got our first sneak peek look at Will Smith as the Genie in all his blue, CGI glory last month. Reception to his appearance wasn't met with wild enthusiasm and it was clear the visuals still needed some work. Hopefully, tomorrow's trailer provides us with a better look at the big blue guy in action.
Given that
Aladdin is a remake of Disney's 1992 animated classic, I can't imagine that many are looking forward to tomorrow's trailer for actual plot details. Just about everyone knows the context of
Aladdin at this point, right? What will be more interesting to see is Guy Ritchie's interpretation of the material and how he plans to bring the animated movie to life on the big screen.
A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, “Aladdin” is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” The film stars Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia; Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim.
Aladdin rides the magic carpet into theaters on May 24, 2019.
