We recently got our first official look at Liu Yifei as Mulan in Disney's live-action retelling of the classic animated adventure, and now director Niki Caro has shared a photo from the set. Check it out.

On the heels of our first official look at Liu Yifei as the sword-wielding warrior of the title in Disney's live-action Mulan movie, director Niki Caro (Zookeeper’s Wife) has shared a photo from the set taken during the first day of filming.

This stunning image gives us another glimpse of Yifei in costume as Mulan as she gazes into the distance while standing near a cherry blossom tree.

The pic is captioned "Reflections," which was the title of a musical number from the animated original.

Mulan also stars Donnie Yet, Jet Li, Jason Scott Lee, Li Gong, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Yoson An, Xana Tang, Pei-Pei Cheng, and Ron Yuan; and is set to hit theaters on March 27. 2020.

The first time I watched Mulan I was really captivated by the story it was really good. I hope they do the animated movie justice with the storytelling and characters.

Apart from the Jungle Book, these Disney live action reimaginings of childhood masterpieces have been pretty mediocre. Little chance this will be as good or even surpass the original Disney Mulan film.

@Comicbookart - Without a doubt, Disney's worst recent remake to me has been Pete's Dragon. I don't know how you can strip all the musical parts out of a story leaving space for more straightforward narrative and STILL come out with a THINNER plot than the musical version.

Wouldn't it be nice if Disney made an actual Asian Princess fairytale movie so Mulan can stop being an awkward placeholder in the Disney Princess series?
