Chiwetel Ejiofor Talks Joining DOCTOR STRANGE With Benedict Cumberbatch And Tilda Swinton

It was confirmed not too long ago during Disney's D23 Expo that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be portraying Baron Mordo in the much-anticipated Doctor Strange adaptation. So, when Entertainment Weekly spoke with the British actor for his role in the post-apocalyptic film Z for Zachariah, the magazine  certainly made an effort to ask about his debut in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I am doing Doctor Strange, and I’m incredibly excited about it,” said Ejiofor, before he laughed and declared, “That’s all I say.” However, the Academy Award-nominated actor did discuss his excitement to be working on Doctor Strange with Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton, who will play Dr. Stephen Strange and the Ancient One, respectively. “He’s a good friend of mine,” Ejiofor said of his 12 Years A Slave and Strange co-star Cumberbatch. “So, it’s gonna be fun. And Tilda Swinton — I haven’t worked with her, but I’m excited to work with her. She’s brilliant.”

Sadly, Chiwetel Ejiofor could not elaborate on his Baron Mordo role, but Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson, and is scheduled to commence principal photography this November in the United Kingdom, and with a release date scheduled for November 4, 2016. What do you think?

Shaping up to be one of the absolute best casts in a solo MCU movie?

I think...YES!

@SauronsBANE especially if McAdams joins too.

Oh boy. Is this an Oscar bait movie or a superhero movie?!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him as Mordo, that is excellent casting on Marvel's part. I really would be interested in seeing Dormammu or Mephisto as the next MCU-Wide antagonist after Thanos.

@VisualMaximus @Jhuntdaprodigy - When I watched Avengers AOU I thought I saw a more classic-looking blackheart in Thor's Hel vision. Probably it wasn't but...

I realized he got reverted with Ghost Rider and smiled.

this might be my most anticipated Marvel movie. Mostly because i don't now what to except from it. If Benedict is in this i will probably watch it just to see his acting skills. I'm curious about Black Panther solo/Civil War also but i doubt those movies could add something different to Marvel MCU like WS. Not sure about Spiderman also. Infinity War ? If Thanos will end up bastardly smiling in every scene i think i'll pass.

Sadly i think CW could end up being just the teaser trailer for Infinity War: Part 1.

Luckly there is always Daredevil S2.

@Jollem

i think in terms of action CW will be great. Not sure about the story (although Baron Zemo could be better antagonist than most of Marvel villains. Bruhl is also good actor. It would be shame to waste him like Redford)

Spiderman could go either way. The teen love drama can kill this movie. We are talking about high school love stories. Jesus ;)

Black Panther - i think people are expecting something more serious (in a vein of WS perhaps). Not sure if Marvel won't throw in some weird humour just like they did with Thor 2. That would be a shame. Black Panther would end up being another formula movie.
