DOCTOR STRANGE And FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Will Both Be Released In China
Suicide Squad not getting a Chinese release put a big dent in its box office takings, but according to a new report, things are looking much better for Doctor Strange and Fantastic Beasts!
There's good news for both Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. today as Variety reveals that Doctor Strange and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be allowed to screen in China next month. The movies are expected to be released in The Middle Kingdom around the same time as in North America, so we'll see them get a pretty big international box office bump from the start of their runs.
China is a big deal these days as it's become the world's second largest film market and can add tens - or even hundreds - of millions of dollars to movie's cume. Both Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed over $100 million there, so it will be interesting to see how Doctor Strange does in comparison. The Harry Potter franchise wasn't quite as popular in the country as Marvel has been, but The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 still ended up making a little over $60 million when it debuted there a while back.
