Last December, it was reported that Marvel were considering Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy, and Ken Watanabe for the role of The Ancient One in Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange, but things have clearly changed since then. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Tilda Swinton is now in talks to play Strange's mentor in the movie, and it's no doubt both a surprising and interesting choice.

Benedict Cumberbatch is playing the hero (who will apparently lead the New Avengers following Captain America: Civil War if recent rumours are to be believed), and seeing him alongside Swinton would no doubt be great. The site adds that Marvel were initially considering keeping the character of The Ancient One male, but changed their mind and have made him a woman instead.

Swinton has also starred in Only Lovers Left Alive, Snowpiercer, and We Need to Talk About Kevin
