With a 60% score, Eternals is currently the lowest-rated Marvel Studios movie on Rotten Tomatoes. Over 100 reviews have been counted thus far, and while hundreds more will follow, should the ensemble slip beneath 60% (and stay there), it's going to earn that dreaded splat and will be dubbed "Rotten."

That would be a first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though some might argue that it had to happen eventually. There's plenty of footage to be found in this critics TV spot, including some undeniably impressive-looking action from Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao's first blockbuster. 

Eternals is the MCU's latest team-up, and features a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

The Marvel Studios movie stars Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Eternals is set to be released on November 5.

Man, I knew the first time one of these got meh reviews people were gonna go nuts but people are really losing it on every side about this one.

Well they're obviously not gonna put negative reviews in a tv spot.

That said, they don't seem to be focusing on reviews calling it the greatest thing ever. Instead I think these reviews are pretty telling of what we should direct our attention to (how it looks, the atmosphere of it all, etc.)

Dune did the exact same thing and that movie got praise. I'm not going to point out that movie has a white straight lead or anything like that. This movie isn't going to be for everyone which is fair enough. We all will have different opinions... Now calling this the worse MCU movie/comic book movie seems extreme. WW84 was getting praise from the same people who hate this movie (I know it's hated now. That was from internet fans or YouTubers). Anyway just watched the movie for yourself folks. This movie was supposed to be divisive. I'm just waiting for the day when YouTube and the internet will call it the most underrated MCU movie and how it was a head of it's time 😂

Nope. I consider myself a hardcore Marvel fan but I know what I like and I really don’t see anything in these trailers that are gonna get me to pay for this. I’ll pay for Spider Man but not this. This one I’ll watch for the same price I paid for the Snyder Cut.

It still baffles me that both sides are trashing this film for different reasons. Usually it’s critics vs GA but this time both are United in bashing Eternals. The fact that this film ‘should’ be being praised by critics and the media for inclusivity and diversity and isn’t is damning. Wow. I’ll go watch it in IMAX. I gotta see this…

@Typhoon20 - But the 1 star IMDb review bombing is based on that criteria of inclusivity and diversity. So the problem is as it was in the early 1900s. Beta white males are trying to control the narrative by preventing any inclusive and diverse projects or people from having the opportunity and rights that they do.

If these trailers and TV spots are the highlights of the movie then word of mouth will be awful after the opening weekend.
No amount of the copy and paste “Best Marvel movie since ____” postings will save it.

I say again, the film is awesome.

Great characterisation, great acting, superb action, beautiful cinematography and thought provoking story.

May I suggest actually seeing the film before making up your mind about it?

I’ve never chose a movie based on reviews. The only review that counts is my own. I’ll see Eternals because I want to. I saw Dune the other day and shook my head at some of the negative reviews. That movie will go down as one of the greatest movies of all time.
