If you didn't witness it first hand, you may have wondered where Agent Coulson came from, or why he was (or is, depending on your opinion), an incredibly important factor of the MCU... A universe of which he is the first major character to originate from, rather than 616 (mainstream Marvel) or the Ultimate Universe.
