Batman TV Series Fancast (Season 1)

Batman TV Series Fancast (Season 1)

A fancast for a TV show focusing on the origins of Batman.

Before Smallville was created, Warner Bros. Pictures showed interest in the idea of a TV show that displayed the origins of Batman. I like the Christopher Nolan movies, but I’m also interest in a TV show based on a young, inexperienced Batman. You can interpret this as a fancast for the next Batman movie franchise, but I’d like a Batman television series fancast, in order to properly develop the characters. This fancast was partially inspired by Smallville and the TV series Arrow
The first episodes would show Bruce making his first public appearance as the Dark Knight. The series would also show flashbacks to his teenage years travelling across the world, getting the skills he needs to become Batman. As the series progresses, Batman would gain allies and enemies. He would also get into contact with the larger superhero community.

Penn Badgley as Batman/Bruce Wayne

Known for: Gossip Girl
Penn Badgley is one of my favorite actors and I liked his more dramatic moments in Gossip Girl. With his look and surprisingly deep voice, he could be a great Batman. I really do not want him to evoke Tom Welling or Christian Bale, he needs to find his own strength as a superhero actor.

Bill Nighy as Alfred Pennyworth

Known for: Pirates of the Caribbean, Underworld
Given that Bill Nighy is primarily a film actor, it would be hard for him to get committed to a TV show. Still, he is a very talented actor and Alfred needs to be played by a British actor.

Bryan Cranston as Comissioner Gordon

Known for: Breaking Bad
Do I really need to say anything? People here at ComicBookMovie have already chosen him as Gordon for their fancasts. He even voiced Gordon in Batman: Year One.

Lance Reddick as Lucius Fox

Known for: Fringe
This guy is awesome in Fringe. He has the type of voice that shows that he is a good leader. He will also voice Ra’s al-Ghul in Beware the Batman.

Graham Phillips as Dick Grayson/Nightwing

Known for: Ben 10: Race Against Time, The Good Wife
Graham Phillips already played a superhero and he has the right age to play Dick Grayson. My idea for Dick is that he would spend at least one season as Robin before taking on the Nightwing identity.

AnnaSophia Robb as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl

Known for: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia
Casting her as Barbara was a no-brainer for me. AnnaSophia is a very good actress. Although Barbara is introduced in the first season, she will become Batgirl in the second season. Therefore, she is only a supporting character.

Lily Collins as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Known for: Mirror, Mirror
Lily Collins is a rising star. After her acting in Mirror, Mirror, she scored the lead role in The Mortal Instruments. I wanted to cast someone who could evoke broken innocence. In the series, Selina is Bruce’s friend from childhood and one of the things that keep him rooted to humanity, aside from Alfred and his protégés. Unfortunately, Carmine Falcone steals her family fortune and Selina, inspired by Batman, decides to take vengeance. Batman stops her but Catwoman holds a grudge against him. She becomes a vigilante, but unlike Batman, she kills her opponents. At first, Selina and Bruce are unaware of each other’s secret lives, but when their secrets are revealed, tensions ensue.

Victor Garber as Carmine Falcone

Known for: Alias
Victor Garber is a very talented actor and he voiced Sinestro in Green Lantern: First Flight. Falcone will the main antagonist of season one.

Well, that’s it, everyone. Stay tuned for season two. Good reading!

Only fitting choice here I think is Bill Nighy as Alfred
Lance Reddick is usually great for any cast but feels miscast; the rest just seem off
Definitely an interesting concept though

I'm sure this will be slammed simply for the young Batman and all but I've thought Penn Badgley would make a magnificent Nightwing for a long time now. He was great in the criminally underrated Stepfather remake. Not too shabby.

I agree with almost all except Penn Badgley!
Dan Humphries is a little too whiny to play Bruce Wayne!

Anna Sophia Robb would be awesome as Batgirl though!
