The Super-Soldier Serum metabolized and enhanced all of Rogers' bodily functions to the peak of human potential. Dr. Reinstein described this potential as being "the next step in human evolution", while still remaining completely human.

Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Rogers has no superhuman powers, although as a result of the Super-Soldier serum, he was transformed from a frail young man into a "perfect" specimen of human development and conditioning. Rogers is as intelligent, strong, fast, agile, and durable as it is possible for a human being to be without being considered superhuman.

* Peak Human Strength: Rogers' physical strength was enhanced to the very peak of human potential. As a result, Rogers is as physically strong as a human being can be without being classified as superhuman. Rogers has been seen bench pressing 500 kg (1,100 lbs) which is consistent with his strength level, as benching is easier than military press lifting.

* Peak Human Speed: He can run at speeds of up to approximately 30 miles per hour, and has on an occasion run a mile in little over a minute (almost 60 mph) when under duress.

* Peak Human Stamina: His body eliminates the excessive build-up of fatigue-producing poisons in his muscles, granting him phenomenal endurance. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several hours without rest before showing any signs of fatigue.

* Peak Human Agility: Rogers' agility is superior to that of any Olympic athlete that had ever competed.

* Peak Human Reflexes: Rogers' reflexes are superior to that of any Olympic athlete that had ever competed. Like most of his powers, his reflexes border on and are likely at superhuman levels as he has accomplished such feats as dodging a bullet fired at point blank range claiming that he "could see faster than it."

* Peak Human Durability: Rogers' ability to withstand injury is superior to those of ordinary humans. This explained how he had survived the physical punishment during his career like building falls and explosions.

* Peak Human Metabolism: His enhanced metabolism allows him to heal from injury or disease faster than most humans. Rogers is subject to all human vulnerabilities, although his immunity to diseases, toxins, or even alcohol poisoning is extraordinary. Rogers has stated he can't get drunk and has never been sick after receiving the SSS.

* Peak Human Mental Process: Rogers' mental performance have been greatly enhanced, allowing his mind to operate in the most efficient and rapid manner possible. One manifestation of this are his tactical genius; the ability to quickly process multiple information streams (e.g., threat assessment) and rapidly respond to changing tactical situations. Rogers also possesses an edictic memory, meaning that he never forgets anything and has perfect recall. This enables him to remember any military tactic and apply it to any situation.

* Peak Human Perception: Rogers has exceptionally keen eyesight and hearing Captain America once stated that he was able to dodge bullets because he "sees faster than them".

Master Martial Artist: Having trained with such luminaries as William Essart Fairbairn and Rex Applegate, Rogers has mastered multiple martial arts including American-style boxing, Okinawa-te, Jujitsu, Aikido, Judo, and various others which he has either portrayed skill or knowledge in (two of them being pressure point fighting in which he rendered a guard unconscious using a nerve pinch and Taijiquan) and combines these disciplines with his acrobatic talents to create his own unique hand-to-hand style of combat. He engages in a daily regimen of rigorous exercise (including aerobics, weight lifting, gymnastics, simulated combat, and even blind fighting) to keep himself in peak condition, and has often defeated opponents whose size, strength, or other powers greatly exceeded his own, including the Hulk, Rhino, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Carnage, an Odinforce-empowered Thor and among plenty of others. Rogers is easily one of the finest human combatants Earth had ever known.

Master Shield Fighter: Rogers' years of training and experience with his unique shield, as well as its physical properties, allows him to accomplish mind-boggling feats with the item. Aside from bashing foes with it and blocking incoming attacks, Rogers is able to throw the shield with nearly perfect aim. He is able to hit multiple targets with the same throw by means of ricochet, and can even achieve a boomerang-like return effect with it, allowing him to strike enemies from behind or retrieve the shield without objects to ricochet from.

Master Tactician and Strategist: Rogers is an accomplished strategist. He has been widely considered one of, if not the greatest tacticians on the planet both on and off the battlefield. He is able to formulate battle strategies and his brilliant tactical sense allows him to just as quickly alter any strategy of plan to fit the need of the situation change. When Scarlet Witch described Rogers as a leader she simply stated "You’re just the best there is." During the Secret Wars the scientific genius Reed Richards asserted that "No one could have directed their group better then Captain America," as Iron Man and the others agreed. This of course was coming from brilliant tacticians that were Tony Stark and Reed Richards, when they were commanding their own teams.

Master Acrobat: Rogers' years of training have made him an expert in the field of acrobatics and gymnastics as well as a stunning aerialist.

Indomitable Will: Rogers is a very strong willed person second to none. He was able to suppress all forms of temptation including physical, mental, and sexual. During the Forever War, he destroyed the Forever Crystal deciding it was too dangerous to exist, despite the number of positive abilities it was capable of such as time traveling which he could have used to alter history to correct his past mistakes. Rogers accepted his own mortality, and refused to rob any sentient creature of its freedom. He was capable of resisting all forms of mind control; only the strongest willed individuals had a chance of enslaving him.

Expert Marksman: He could throw most if not all projectile weaponry with great aim and was well versed in the use of firearms though he preferred not to use them.

Weapons Proficiency: He did not usually use weapons other than his shield, but in desperate times or situations where he and teammates were outnumbered, he would wield additional weapons to ensure victory. He had used staffs, bludgeons, and was adept with swords. He likely received training with different kinds of weapons during his wartime for undercover infiltration missions in the event of not being able to use his shield.

Uniform: Cap's fire-retardant costume incorporated Kevlar body armor as well as a chain-mail shirt composed of light-weight "duralumin."

* Utility Belt: Cap had often worn a utility belt containing mission-specific equipment.

Vibranium-Steel Shield: His primary, and usually only weapon. A concave disk about 2.5 feet in diameter, weighing 12 pounds, it was made of a unique Vibranium-Steel alloy that had never been duplicated. The Shield was cast by American metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain, who was contracted by the U.S. government to create an impenetrable substance to use for tanks during World War II. During his experiments, MacLain combined Vibranium with a steel alloy he was working with and an unknown catalyst, creating the disc-shaped shield. MacLain was never able to duplicate the process due to his inability to identify the still-unknown factor that played a role in it; however attempts to reverse engineer its composition resulted in the development of adamantium. The shield was issued to Captain America by the government several months after the beginning of his career.

The shield had great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enabled it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It was virtually indestructible: it was resistant to penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic spectrum of radiation. The only way it could be damaged in any way would be by tampering with its molecular bonding.

Cyclops is a mutant.

Optic Blast: Cyclops possesses the mutant ability to project a powerful beam of concussive, ruby-colored force from his eyes. Cyclops's powers were originally believed to be ambient energies (such as solar radiation, photons, and cosmic rays) absorbed and metabolized by his body into concussive blasts that are released from his eyes. However, the energy supply of his optic blasts are later revealed to originate from a non-Einsteinian universe that opens up whenever he uses his optic blasts.

Cyclops's eyes not only are organs that utilizes the the visible spectrum of light to see the world around it. They are are also inter-dimensional portals between this universe and a non-Einsteinian universe where physical laws as we know them do not pertain. This non-Einsteinian universe is filled with particles that resemble photons, yet they interact with this universe's particles by transferring kinetic energy in the form of gravitons (the particle of gravitation). These particles generate great, directional concussive force when they interact with the objects of this universe.

Cyclops's mind has a particular psionic field that is attuned to the forces that maintain the apertures that have taken the place of his eyes. Because his mind's psionic field envelops his body, it automatically shunts the other-dimensional particles back into their point of origin when they collide with his body. Thus, his body is protected from the effects of the particles, and even the thin membrane of his eyelids is sufficient to block the emission of energy. The synthetic ruby quartz crystal used to fashion the lenses of Cyclops's eyeglasses and visor is resonant to his minds' psionic field and is similarly protected.

The width of Cyclops's eye-blast seems to be focused by his mind's psionic field with the same autonomic function that regulated his original eyes' ability to focus. As Cyclops focuses, the size of the aperture changes and thus act as a valve to control the flow of particles and beam's relative power. The height of Cyclops's eye-blast is controlled by his visor's adjustable slit. His narrowest beam, about the diameter of a pencil at a distance of 4 feet has a force of about 2 pounds per square inch. His broadest beam, about 90 feet across at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of about 10 pounds per square inch. His most powerful eye-blast is a beam 4 feet across which, at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of 500 pounds per square inch. The maximum angular measurement of Cyclops's eye-blast is equivalent to a wide-angle 35mm camera lens field of view (90 degrees measured diagonally, or the angle subtended by holding a magazine's pages spread open, upright at 9.5 inches from your eyes). The minimum angular measurement is equivalent to the angle that the thickness of a pencil would subtend at 4 feet (3.5 degrees, about a quarter of an inch viewed at 4 feet). The beam's effective range is about 2,000 feet, at which point a 1-inch beam has spread out to 10 feet square, and then has a pressure of .38 pounds per square inch. Cyclops's maximum force is sufficient to tip over a filled 5,000 gallon tank at a distance of 20 feet, or puncture a 1-inch carbon-steel plate at a distance of 2 feet.

The extra dimensional supply of energy for Cyclops's eye-blast is practically infinite. Thus, so long as Cyclops's psionic field is active (which is constant), there is the potential to emit energy. The only limit to the eye-blast is the mental fatigue of focusing constantly. After about 15 minute of constant usage, the psionic field subsides and allows only a slight leakage of energy to pass through the aperture. Cyclops's metabolism will recover sufficiently for him to continue in about an additional 15 minutes.

The maximum force of Cyclops' optic blasts are unknown, but a commonly given description is that he can "punch holes through mountains", and he has been shown to rupture a half-inch thick carbon steel plate. During a particular battle, Scott says that he hit Cain Marko (a.k.a. the Juggernaut) with enough power to split a small planet in half, though he may have been indulging in hyperbole. In the Age of Apocalypse dimension, his beams can cut through Adamantium, a previously indestructible metal. In the mainstream continuity of the Marvel Universe, it has also been implied that Cyclops only utilizes a fraction of the energies at his disposal. During the Civil War: X-Men story arc, Cyclops is controlled by another mutant to use his powers at their full magnitude. When directed at the energy-absorbing mutant Bishop, Cyclops was able to overload Bishop's powers in a matter of seconds. When Iron Man measured Cyclops's power while he was powering Bishop, he found the energy output was well over 2 gigawatts, larger than a large nuclear reactor. It is also stated that Cyclops does not use his powers at such a level due to the preoccupation he has regarding his control (or lack thereof) of his abilities.

Cyclops is seen fighting The Hulk in World War Hulk: X-Men #1 and in issue #2, where he uses a beam blast to stop the Hulk, refusing to let the Hulk take Professor Xavier. While it peels off some of the Hulk's skin, he was able to walk towards Cyclops and clench his entire face, effectively containing the blast.

Spatial Awareness: Cyclops possesses an uncanny sense of trigonometry, in this sense used to describe his observation of objects around himself and the angles found between surfaces of these objects. Cyclops has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to cause his optic blasts to ricochet and/or reflect off those objects in a trajectory to his liking. This is commonly called a "banked shot" when applied to this talent. Cyclops has been observed causing beams to reflect from over a dozen surfaces in the course of one blast, and still hit his intended target accurately. It is his sense of superhumanly enhanced spatial awareness that allows him to perform these feats as well.

Energy Resistance: Cyclops is resistant to the effects of his own powers. This is linked to him being capable of withstanding his brother's ability with no ill effects. This is a result of their close genetics, a quirk of mutant genetics that is common among siblings.

Expert Pilot: Cyclops is an expert pilot of fixed-wing aircraft, a skill he appears to have inherited from his father. It has also been implied that his trigonometric sense improves his abilities in the air.

Master Strategist and Tactician: Cyclops has spent most of his superhero career as the leader of either the X-Men or X-Factor and has developed exceptional leadership skills. It is notable that regardless of their general attitude towards him, all of the X-Men tend to obey his orders in battle - because they know that he's usually right.

Master Martial Artist: Cyclops also has extensive training in martial arts and unarmed combat, holding black belts in judo and aikido. His level of skill is sufficient to defeat six normal men with his eyes closed, and he has in the past held his own against such dangerous enemies as Wolverine and Ghost Rider.

Cyclops' Visor: The mask Scott wears to prevent random discharge is lined with powdered ruby quartz crystal. It incorporates two longitudinally mounted flat lenses which can lever inward providing a constantly variable exit slot of 0 inches to .79 inches in height and a constant width of 5.7 inches. The inverted clam-shell mechanism is operated by a twin system of miniature electrical motors. As a safety factor their is a constant positive closing pressure provided by springs. The mask itself is made of high-impact plastic. There is an overriding finger-operated control mechanism on either side of the mask, and normal operation is through a flat micro-switch installed in the thumb of either glove.

if they're fighting to the death and holding nothing back, then Cyclops could take out Cap pretty easily and quickly.

however, realistically, Cyclops would never throw a fully charged optic blast in Cap's direction.

So Cap wins. When it comes down to it, Cyclops can't hang in a fist fight with Cap, and thats what it would come down too, because Cyke would be holding too much back.

i think cyclops would win if he doesn't hold back, but if it came down to hand to hand combat cap would win.

so just depends how the fight pans out.

Captain America is the one hero that has a way to block Cyclops' optic beams. Cap's shield has withstood blasts and force impacts that are much more powerful than Cyke's optic blasts even at full power.

This would be cool to watch, but even if it was a fight to the death, Cap would win. He almost killed and Odinforce empowered Thor for pete's sake......

If Captain America was threatening Utopia (for whatever reason the writers could come up with) and there was no reasoning with him, Cyclops would blow Cap in half. Hell, he's probably already run Danger Room scenarios over it just like with Wolverine and every other ally he has.

I'm gonna have to say that cap would find a way to win.

@Nuck82: Thats was an alternate timeline series. That doesnt count. And its just a cover. LOL

@Intruder: But its all in the basics of Cap's fighting style. He's a master at targeting pressure points, thats how he was able to land effective blows in battles against guys that have superhuman durability. A Supernova explosion is not focused on a specific point on the body like a punch will be.

That how youve had people like Deathstroke, Batman, Shang Chi, Lady Shiva, Iron Fist being shown to go toe-to-toe against others that have superhuman durability.

lol im just saying, and it totaly counts

Intruder: any explosion of that magnitude is not exerting pressure on a point of impact that precise and a specific manner.

For instance, when Bruce Lee was doing one of his demonstrations of the One-Inch Punch on a guy, i think it was a sumo wrestler, that weighed about 300 lbs. Bruce Lee was striking him sporadically, and the guy didnt move, but when he did that punch on a specific part on his body, dude flew back like several feet away and was hurt in the process.

Intruder: This is a good example of what I was trying to point out.

Now, The Hulk has withstood cannon fire, high-powered explosion, and didnt even flinch, but Captain America can make him lose his balance by force by striking weak points on the Hulk body.

Not everyone can do it though.

Oh boy, nothin is worse than the Batman fanboys. LOL.

Cap's shield might be able to withstand Cyke's optic blasts, but Cyke can create an optic blast so big that it completely engulfs Cap's body. Cap's shield is only so big.

Thats why, at range and pissed off, Cyke wins easy. Under any other circumstance, Cap wins.

I choose Cyclops.
I don't think Cyclops has to go all out Optic rage to win this. His Optic Blast are extremely powerful. The Shield will survive sure, but there's a Man at ONLY peak human strength behind it. Cyclops hits him hard enough (Not all out)and Cap will flying back as far as Cyclops would like. Remember Cyclops optic blast are very strong.
However, I don't think that's an option he needs to explore. Cyclops knows that Captain has a shield. Cyclops is smart enough and capable to just use his ricochet shots to catch Cap off guard. Shoot an optic blast, Cap blocks it, it ricochets off a couple of surface, which Cyclops is able to do and has done with outstanding accuracy due to his spacial awareness, and smash Captain America in the back. Cap can do the same thing with his shield, except he would be abandoning the shied and all Cyclops has to do is counter by shooting at the shield, after all his accuracy is next to flawless when he's not getting mentally manipulated.
Overall, Cyke has a huge edge over Cap. Their leadership and strategy are on par, which favors the long range expert more. Cyclops has a better chance of hitting Captain America. Both have a shot in ending the fight in one blow, but Cyclops has a better chance of landing that shot.
