CW's Justice League FANCAST (By SeanDeaon)
With Superman making his big debut in the CW's Supergirl Season 2, one might wonder if there could be a CW Justice League special in the works. And if so, who would star in it as the rest of the JL.
With Supergirls move from CBS to the CW for its Season 2 schedule, we also get the arrival of the Man of Steel himself. With three of the original Justice League members now existing within the CW's DC universe, one could assume that more of the original members of the Justice League might also make guest appearances in other shows. If this is the case, the CW may very well be on its way to having a Justice League special, similar to how Marvel is building up to have a Defenders special on Netflix.
In this article, we'll go over which members of the Justice League most likely will appear in the special out of the characters that have already been premiered in CW shows, as well as characters who could possibly make guest appearances before staring in the Justice League special and the possible actors who could portray them.
So without further ado, let's get started with the fan cast...
Starting off, we have a list of pre-existing characters who will probably appear as members of the Justice League in the special:
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow
Played by: Stephen Amell
Show Debut: Arrow
Although not an original founding member, Green Arrow was a popular member of the Justice League, and as the hero who's show started the CW's DC universe, it's only fitting that he would appear in the Justice League special.
Barry Allen/The Flash
Played by: Grant Gustin
Show Debut: Flash
As the lead in his own CW show and a founding member of the Justice League, it makes perfect sense for The Speedster to appear in the Justice League special.
Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Played by: Melissa Benoist
Show Debut: Supergirl
Although also not an original founding member of Justice League, Supergirl would hold her own on the team and assist wherever her cousin, Superman, wouldn't be able to.
Clark Kent/Superman
Played by: Tyler Hoechlin
Show Debut: Supergirl
With Tyler Hoechlin confirmed to appear as the Man of Steel in Supergirl Season 2, we have one of our core founding Justice League members, and to many, considered the leader of the Justice League.
J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Played by: David Harewood
Show Debut: Supergirl
With Martian Manhunter making his debut in season 1 of Supergirl, we have our third confirmed founding Justice League member in the CW's DC universe. If Manhunter appears as a regular on the Supergirl show, he could easily join the Justice League team along with Superman and Supergirl.
Ray Palmer/The Atom
Played by: Brandon Routh
Show Debut: Arrow
Although a regular now on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The Atom could easily jump over to assist the Justice League in the special. Particularly, if the League needs to split up into separate teams to deal with multiple threats at the same time.
Khufu and Chay-Ara/Hawkman and Hawkgirl
Played by: Falk Hentschel and Ciara Renée
Show Debut: Flash/Arrow
After leaving the team at the end of Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow, Hawkman and Hawkgirl could make more guest appearances throughout further seasons of Flash, Arrow or Supergirl, in which case they could also make an appearance in a Justice League special if needed.
Mari McCabe/Vixen
Played by: Megalyn Echikunwoke
Show Debut: Arrow
After a successful animated short and a live action debut on Arrow, the character of Vixen could come back to make an appearance in a live action Justice League special.
Well that's it for the pre-existing DC characters who would more than likely make an appearance in a CW Justice League special. Now for the fun part...
Here is my Fan Cast list of League members who could show up in a CW Justice League special, as well as possible actors who could play them:
Bruce Wayne/Batman
Possible Actor Choice: Anson Mount
Possible Show Debut: Arrow
The Dark Knight himself and one of the co-founding members of the Justice League, Batman would be a key figure in organizing all the different heroes in order to form the League. I can see Batman making his debut into the CW's DC universe on the show Arrow, probably as a guest appearance in one or two episodes, liken to what they did with Vixen in season 4 of Arrow. I personally cast Anson Mount to play Batman, cuz at this point in the CW's DC Universe I can see Batman as being an older and more established character who has already trained Nightwing as well as Jason Todd. Mount has the look of an older experienced Bruce Wayne and has done several dark characters in the past, so he could easily play the dark and brooding Batman. Also, with Hell On Wheels being warped up, Mount is now more available to play the role, particularly if it's only showing up once or twice as a guest appearance.
Diana Prince/Wonder Woman
Possible Actor Choice: Julia Voth
Possible Show Debut: Supergirl
As one of the leading co-founding members of the Justice League, Princes Diana would need to be a must have for a Justice League special. Diana could easily make her debut in the Supergirl show (possibly as early as season 3 even) and appear as a regular guest, similar to that of Superman and Martian Manhunter. I can see Diana showing up to help Kara and possibly even train her to become stronger, like she did in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. For the role of Wonder Woman, I cast actress Julia Voth. Voth has worked with the CW before on the show Supernatural and has the looks and the acting skills to pull off our favorite Amazon Warrior Princess.
Arthur Curry/Aquaman
Possible Actor Choice: Ian Somerhalder
Possible Show Debut: Flash
Another one of the founding members of the Justice League, it is ideal to have Aquaman star in a possible Justice League special. And it's possible that Aquaman joining the CW's DC universe could become a reality sooner than we expect. In a deleted scene from the pilot episode of Flash, Detective West mentions how Barry went off to investigate a rumor about a human who could "talk to fish", a clear reference to Aquaman. Then in Flash's second season, the existence of Aquaman's home of Atlantis as an actual place is mentioned several times on Earth 2. And now with season 3 focusing on the Flashpoint story arc, in which Aquaman plays a significant part of, it is very possible we may see Aquaman finally make an appearance on the CW in the Flash show. If this comes to happen, I can see the CW casting Ian Somerhalder as Aquaman. Somerhalder may not be a natural blonde, but that's nothing a little blonde hair dye can't fix. Somerhalder definitely can pull off the Aquaman look and is a skilled enough actor to play the part well. He has also worked with the CW before on shows like The Vampire Diaries, which helps make him an easier casting choice.
Hal Jordan/Green Lantern
Possible Actor Choice: Jensen Ackles
Possible Show Debut: Supergirl/Flash/Arrow
The last founding member of the Justice League on this list is of course Hal Jordan the Green Lantern. Just like with Aquaman, the network has been teasing fans with hints and Easter Eggs of Hal Jordan's existence for a while now. From a shot of a man in a pilot's jacket with a "Jordan" name tag on it walking past the camera in an episode of Arrow, to Barry Alan testing his speed limitation in an episode of Flash at Ferris Air Testing Facility, which is the same airfield that Hal Jordan worked at.
With all this teasing, it is possible Jordan as the Green Lantern could soon make an appearance on the CW. As to which show he will debut on, it could be any of them, or better yet, he could appear in the mid-season crossover episodes and make appearances in all four CW DC shows. As for who would play Jordan, I had to chose Jensen Ackles, who many of you may recognize better as Dean Winchester in the CW show Supernatural. Ackles not only can capture the wise cracking and free spirited side of Jordan but the serious and getting down to business attitude Jordan has when being the Green Lantern. With Supernatural coming to it's final season, Ackles could definitely be available to play the role of Green Lantern and would hit it out of the park if he did.
With that we conclude the line up of hero characters for our possible CW Justice League special. However, the list isn't done yet, cuz for every good group of superheros, we need a supervillain to stand against them. And for the main big bady our heroes will be facing in the Justice League special, I've chosen one of the most notorious villains in the DC universe:
Lex Luthor
Possible Actor Choice: Jon Hamm
Possible Show Debut: Supergirl
Now I know some are asking why Lex? Why not a more powerful villain like Darkseid or Doomsday to go against the Justice League? Well one, cuz I'm sure DC and Warner Bros. want to hold onto those characters for future Justice League feature films and not put them on TV yet. And two, Luthor himself is a very formidable foe. He's taken on the League on his own several times and bested them for the most part. With his brains, wealth and resources he has the ability to be a very opposing threat to the League as a whole. There is a reason he is the leader of the Legion of Doom.
As to how he will be incorporated into the CW's DC universe, he could easily debut in the Supergirl show as a guest appearance. It has been confirmed that Katie McGrath has been cast for Supergirl season 2 as Lena Luthor, Lex Luthor's sister who is looking after her brothers business while he is in jail. This means we could get some scenes in the show where Lena visits Lex in prison, similar to how Barry Allan visited his father in prison during season 1 of Flash. This would allow us to see Lex without him having to be a major player in the show, and could give the audience clues to his plans and lead up to his escape which could happen at the beginning of the Justice League special.
As to who could play the villainous billionaire businessman, I cast the talented Jon Hamm from amc's Mad Men. In redeeming the character from Jesse Eisenberg's terrible performance in Batman vs. Superman, Hamm would pull off a brilliant Lex Luthor who could feel intimidating to every member of the Justice League. With Mad Men having ended in 2015, Hamm's schedule has been mostly open, making him more available to play the part. Hamm even played Luthor once in a parody video titled "Lex Luthor Bailout" from Funny Or Die, which he does an amazing job in. So i'm sure he would jump at the opportunity to play the roll again if offered.
Well, there you have it. My Fan Cast line up for a CW Justice League special if one was ever to be made. Hope you all enjoyed it and let me know what you think. Peace.
