Hello folks, these are my casting choices to play the characters that may or may not show up in the upcoming July 22, 2011 film, The First Avenger: Captain America.
Tom Hardy as Steve Rogers/Captain America
In my opinion Tom Hardy has the right look, age, and acting skills to pull off Cap.
He also has a very strong screen prescense which will be very important for the actor who plays Cap to have.
Now sure, you may disagree because he is a brit but in my opinion who cares? Yeah, I mean it is Captain America afterall but if the best actor for Cap happens to be from England, Canada or Australia, I would rather him then cast Brad Pitt or Channing Tatum for the sake of having an american play him.
Also, have you seen Hardy as Charles Bronson?
This guy can get huge if he needs too and so far he is the only guy I really have full confidence in to play Captain America.
Christoph Waltz as Johann Schmidt/Red Skull
All you have to do is see Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds to realise he would be a pretty darn good Red Skull. However, I somehow doubt he would accept the role because he may not want to be typecast as a nazi haha. But if Waltz did deny the role, what about Elias Koteas?
Im not sure if he can pull off the whole accent and stuff for Skull but you have to admit he at least looks pretty good for the role.
Anton Yelchin as James "Bucky" Barnes
Im sure you guys have heard this suggestion for Bucky plenty of times. Personally, Anton Yelchin is not necessarily my choice for Bucky, but there is not many actors out there that I can see as Bucky these days.
Im sure Marvel will probably surprise us with some new name for Bucky.
Jenna Fischer as Peggy Carter
Well this is probably strange for you... it is for me as well. The thing is, Peggy Carter is not too big of a role I dont think. She will have a pretty good amount of screentime but all in all not too much.
The reason for me picking Jenna Fischer is because she has that whole average girl look to her. She does not look fake like most actress do (Angelina Jolie for example) and I think that will be needed for Cap's love interest. Im sorry but I just cant picture Cap being with Rachel McAdams lol.
Now the next casting choices I am going to put out is based on rumors that The Invaders could appear in it based on the latest hint that they will be putting a lot of international things into the movie to appeal to other countries that are NOT america. I agree that it is very likely because Cap leading The Invaders would be a great foreshadowing of him leading The Avengers and that way Namor could lead The Avengers to Cap in the ice.
Doug Jones as Jim Hammond/Human Torch
Now I dont know if this is good or not, the reason I picked Doug Jones is because of what I know the Jim Hammond/Human Torch is that he does not have a human form. He is just... The Human Torch. So thats why I suggested Jones since he usually just does the movements for CGI characters and the voice for them and such but I am prepared to get flack for this suggestion haha.
Ian Somerhalder as Namor the Sub-Mariner
Alright, so I want to start out by saying I am not really familiar with Namor. I know what he looks like and I know he is the king of Atlantis, but other then that I really have no clue about his backstory and stuff.
While I was pondering possible actors for it, Ian popped up into my head and I thought the resemblance was fairly close and I beleive Ian Somerhalder could definantly play Namor. Opinions would be greatly appreciated, and just like Doug Jones for Human Torch, I am ready for major flack on this haha.
Gerard Butler as Joseph Chapman/Union Jack
I dont know but something about Gerard Butlers voice behind Union Jack is just something that would be seriously badass and he could totally own up as the character.
