For the past few weeks, I happened to catch a glimpse of a super robot (mecha) anime called "Hyakujuu Ou Golion" ("Beast King GoLion"), the basis for "Voltron: Defender of the Universe."
The thing with "GoLion," though, is that unlike "Voltron," it was not afraid to show all things grotesque when it comes to touchy subjects like politics, war, sexuality, and overall brutality and violence, which can be found in many series' as in the likes of shows like "Game of Thrones." Ironically, because of this matter, many scenes were censored so "Voltron" can be kid-friendly in America...just like "Power Rangers." This unabashed action by a group called Saburo Yatsude within Toei Animation Company is what drew me so f-ing close to the series despite myself having seen other super robot series' before like Voltes V, Combattler V, Daimos, Gundam, and some of Go Nagai's Mazinger series.
Anyway, here is my proposed cast list for a live-action movie/TV miniseries rendition of GoLion:
