Please forgive the spelling errors and the crudeness of this story. I thought that I would create a new and interesting story to add to the Batman film franchise. This is intended to be the first film in a trilogy that I have yet to write, but the second film would be based on Mask of Phantasm and the third would be based on Knightfall. This is written scene by scene so i hope it makes sense. Thank you for reading and enjoy!
The Batman
- The film opens up with a news story covering the story of “Bruce Wayne’s Return”. They talk about how long he was gone and that he was presumed dead. They say that his return is a huge surprise to many. Bruce is watching this and turns the TV off. Alfred comes walking in and talks to him about how he is happy to have him back. Bruce goes over to the mini-bar and pours himself a drink. He takes it with him to his room after saying goodnight to Alfred and gets himself ready for bed. As he sits down he hears something in the corner of the room. Up in the corner of the room is a bat flapping. Alfred comes in and says that they like to come into the house every once in awhile. He also says they may have a hiding place on the grounds. Bruce stares at the bat as it continues to flap in the corner casting a shadow on Bruce’s chest.
- That next morning he walks into the cemetery and walks over to his parent’s grave. He puts a bouquet of roses on it and says, “I’m almost ready. I’m so close.” He then stands and hears someone behind their headstone talking. He looks around and answers. A woman turns around to face him, Andrea Beaumont. She says she was talking to her mother and he apologizes. He begins to walk away and she asks her mother’s grave if she should go talk to him because it was Bruce Wayne and she goes running after him. They begin to talk and at this point Bruce has only been back in Gotham for a few weeks. She introduces herself and he tries to but she says, “Oh I know who you are. Bruce Wayne, billionaire playboy back from the dead.” He tries to brush it off and tell her that all that stuff isn’t really him. She playfully bugs him about it and he just smiles. She’s the only one to ever talk to him this way and he likes it. She can feel his honesty and begins to like him. He walks her to her car and he asks, “Will I see you around?” Andrea (playfully): “I don’t know.” He smiles as she drives out of sight.
- Bruce gets out of his car and is met with tons of news reporters. He shoves them all out of the way as he walks into Wayne Enterprises. He is met with clapping hands as he heads his way to the elevators. As they open he is met by Lucius Fox and a couple of secretaries. Lucius says: “I was surprised when you told me you wanted to take a larger role in the company so soon after your return.” Bruce: “I want to continue my father’s legacy. He built this company to do great things and I want to continue and make those dreams a reality.” Lucius: “Well I hope you’re ready for the big leagues Mr. Wayne. They enter a conference room and they are met by Mr. Sionis and Roman Sionis. Sionis Industries is a financial competitor of Wayne Enterprises. Mr. Sionis and the Mrs. knew both Bruce’s parents through the social climate, but they always hated the Wayne’s because they were always more successful. Roman is an old childhood acquaintance of Bruce’s. Sionis’ company is close to bankruptcy which is publicly known and they are meeting because they wanted to discuss joining forces to help out in the local communities. Sionis is arrogant however and only agrees so that he can access Wayne Enterprises and their financial information. Bruce knows he is up to something. During the meeting Roman barely says anything, but Bruce continually tries to include him in the business deal. The meeting ends and the two take pictures outside for the press.
- Later that night Bruce is standing on top of a roof top looking down on a group of thugs stealing items from a warehouse. He is wearing a crude early batsuit. He puts on the black ski mask and watches the men. He waits until one goes off alone and takes the guy and drags him into the shadows. Another thug calls for the guy but there is no answer. Suddenly the guy’s gun comes sliding out of the darkness and the three thugs begin shooting into the shadows. Bruce then jumps down behind then and says, “Drop your weapons.” The three thugs chuckle at the guy standing in front of them and do drop their guns, but one put on brace knuckles and the other grabs a crowbar of a crate while the third pulls out a knife. Bruce dispatches of all three put still gets punched and is cut by the knife. A fourth man comes out of the truck and begins shooting at Bruce, but Bruce dives out of the way into the warehouse, grabbing the tied up guard. The man gets into the truck and sirens can be heard by now. Bruce jumps onto the back of the truck as it speeds away. He climbs on the trailer and eventually is able to crash the truck and save the day more or less. He hears sirens and climbs up the side of building as the police show up. He is in serious pain as he escapes the scene.
- The next morning Bruce is practicing fighting in his gym when Alfred comes in with the paper under his arm. Bruce is bandaged up from the cut and has a couple bruise on his body and face. Alfred: “Is this really the life you really want to live? Going out at night and getting beat up?” Bruce: “I swore an oath to my parents that I would rid Gotham of all injustice. That same injustice took them from me Alfred.” Alfred: “Are you sure this is the path they would want for you? You can help Gotham is so many other ways. Let the police do their jobs” Bruce: “The police haven’t been able to do anything for years. Last night I never felt more alive. As Bruce Wayne I can only do so much. By doing this I can be something more than just a man. ” Alfred: “And what would that be then?” Bruce: “I’m not sure yet. You know that was the problem last night. To those thugs I was just a guy in a mask. I need to truly make them fear me.” Alfred: “Whatever gets you off I suppose.” Bruce snickers at the remark and Alfred continues: “Your little escapade did however make the front page.” Bruce walks over and grabs the paper. He reads the headline about a masked vigilante and says: “This is a good start.” He continues to read as the door bell rings. Alfred leaves and comes back moments later. Bruce is still reading and Alfred says: “A Miss Beaumont here to see you sir.” Bruce: “Tell her I’ll be out in a minute.” He goes and begins to put some clothes on when Andrea walks in and says: “Is making a woman wait for you how you normally respond?” Bruce turns around smiling and apologizes and says that it is not. She admires the gym and they try to create small talk. She asks what happened to him and he tries to play it off. She says: “Let me guess, you were at one of your little ‘soirees’ and one of your past flings decided to hit you for never calling her back. Am I close?” They both smile and laugh and Bruce responds: “Now what kind of a man do you think I am?” Andrea: “One that likes to have women beat him up.” Before he can respond she trips him up and lays him flat on the floor. He is shocked and she looks down at him with a cocky smile. He says: “I never said, however, that I wasn’t the kind of man to beat up on a woman.” He then swipes her legs out from under her and she falls to the floor. He climbs on top of her and restrains her arms. She says: “You really do know how to sweep a woman off her feet don’t you?” They then both look into each other’s eyes and start to kiss. Alfred walks in with some refreshments and notices the two on the floor. He turns around and leaves the room as he rolls his eyes with a smile.
- Wayne Enterprises is holding a fundraiser banquet. Bruce and Andrea attend together. The Sionis family is also in attendance. They meet with Bruce and say they are so happy to have him back in Gotham. Roman is standing behind them and they refuse to acknowledge him. Bruce notices and greets Roman. Roman does the same as his parents stand by. They then awkwardly try to include him in the conversation and mention his collection of masks, but he silences them and goes to the bar. The Sionis’ walk away to mingle with others with distasted looks on their faces. The night continues on and the Sionis’ head back to their mansion. Roman’s parents still continue to not acknowledge them as they are bringing friends along. They continue to have a good time at their mansion and during the night Roman goes to each room and locks every door in the house. He then ignites the mansion on fire and watches as it burns to the ground. When help finally arrive it is too late. The next day Sionis Industry stock plummets and Bruce offers to help out and join the board of directors. The other Sionis board members make Roman agree against him and Sionis Industries is saved from bankruptcy. Later that night Roman is watching the news in his penthouse and all the news can talk about it Bruce Wayne. He becomes furious and walks back into a locked room. He opens the doors and walks into a room filled with wall to wall masks. All are from different parts of the world and different time periods. He starts tearing them of the wall in fury and then leaves. There is a storm outside and Roman breaks into the cemetery. He walks over to his parent’s tomb and walks into it. He walks up to his parents coffins, which are made out of solid ebony. He takes out a hammer and punch and begins chunking away the material. He gets a good sized chunk of it. He returns to his penthouse and takes out tools and carves the material out into a mask, a black mask.
- Bruce and Andrea are having a nice time at Wayne Manor as Alfred tells Andrea all the stories about Bruce as a child. He tells one story about how Bruce fell into a well as a child. At this point Bruce begins to have flashbacks to that moment as it gave him a fear of bats. He dazes off and Andrea catches him. He comes to and continues to converse with them. Later that night Bruce and Andrea are lying in bed and she asks him what happened after he disappeared. She asks what he did during the years he was gone. He says it doesn’t matter and they both fall asleep. A gun shoots Thomas Wayne, and then shoots Martha Wayne. Bats swirl around a young boy. Bruce startles himself awake, sweating. He sits up in his bed and looks over at Andrea lying next to him. It’s raining hard outside. He gets up out of bed and walks through his mansion. He enters his personal study area and starts to build a fire. He strikes a match and throws it in the fireplace. He sits down and goes into a deep thought about his travels. He traveled world searching for who he was meant to become. He trained in many forms of martial arts and learned various forms of science and other things needed to be the world’s greatest detective and a world class fighter. He is gone from Gotham for many years and after finally finding his inner self he returns back home. Andrea wakes up and finds Bruce gone. She walks through the mansion but still can’t find him. Bruce is at his parent’s grave. He asks for their forgiveness and that he didn’t count on falling in love and being happy. Andrea then walks up behind him and he runs to embrace her as they hold each other in the pouring rain.
- Bruce and Andrea continue to live out their lives together. They go see shows and take trips and do everything a happy couple would. One day they are walking the manor grounds during sundown when he gets down on one knee and proposes to her. She accepts and they embrace. Suddenly tons of bats begin flying out of a crevice next to them and Bruce grabs her tight as she is frightened. He stares at them as they swirl around them and then eventually fly away. She says they need to tell her father and so that night they drive to her father’s house. He is extremely happy for them when suddenly cars begin to pull up. Men in suits barge into the home and demand to see Andrea’s father. He tries to make them leave but he eventually ushers them into his private office. Bruce and Andrea sit outside with one of the men. He sits silently while they hear arguing inside. The men eventually come out and they all leave. Andrea runs into the office to find her father doubled up on the floor holding his gut. He has blood around his mouth. Bruce runs outside and when he walks to the cars the silent goon flicks a cigarette at his chest as they drive away. Bruce goes back inside and finds that Andrea’s father is packing up all of their things. Andrea tells Bruce that he needs to go. She kisses him goodnight and shuts the door on him.
- The next morning he is outside watching the sunrise while doing Tai Chi. Alfred comes out and says he found something on the doorstep this morning. He places it on the table and walks away. Bruce turns around to find the ring box lying there. He opens it and inside is the ring he bought Andrea and a note. It reads that she will always love him and that he mustn’t come after her. He crumples the note and drops to his knees. He then looks up and realizes that he must still continue with his plan of destroying crime.
- A man gets up from his chair while watching TV and goes to the kitchen, James Gordon. A story on the news is talking about another masked figure, but that this one is one of the new crime bosses in the city, going by the name Black Mask. He grabs a beer out of the fridge. He looks over at the clock on the wall and then goes up the stairs of his home. He opens up a door and looks in on his daughter sleeping in her bed. He continues down the hallway and looks in on his wife lying in bad reading a book. He tells her he’ll be to bed shortly. He continues on further and opens up another door. He walks up a small set of stairs and then opens another door to the roof of his house. He leans over the railing and looks out at the lights of the city. Something makes a noise behind him and he reaches for his gun and turns around and says: “Who’s there?” he begins to walk forward, when suddenly hears a voice behind him say: “Jim.” Gordon says: “Show yourself. Who are you?” He draws his gun and Bruce says (still hiding in the shadows: “It’s OK. I’m not here to hurt you or your family. I’m just here to talk.” Gordon (lowering his gun): “You the guy everyone’s been talking about? Why come talk to me?” Bruce: “You’re a good cop, one of the few.” Gordon: “What do you want?” Bruce: “I just came to let you know that I’m on your side.” Gordon’s wife calls for him and Gordon turns away. He reaches backwards and turns on the door light, trying to catch Bruce off guard, but when he turns around Bruce is gone.
- That next day Bruce goes spelunking into the cave that the bats came out of during his proposal. He enters a massive cave system and calls up to Alfred. He eventually climbs back out and he says that part of the foundation of the mansion is built under the cave. Alfred and Bruce do some research on the house and find out that Bruce’s ancestors used the caves as part of the Underground Railroad. They also find out that there is a secret entrance in the house and Bruce figures out that it is the clock in his study, which has never worked for as long as he can remember. He tries to search for the lever or the way to open it but can’t find anything. He does some detective work and opens up the glass case and then pulls down on the pendulum. The clock then unlocks and he then grabs it and reveals a spiral staircase. He and Alfred walk down it back into the cave he entered the day prior. They then set up a generator, start setting up work tables and then start to put together the supplies he’ll need to become The Batman. He has concepts designs all drawn out about how he wants his costume to work and function. He takes some things from Wayne Enterprises and in the end comes up with his suit. That night he dresses up for the first time. Alfred hands him items as Bruce puts them on. Alfred hands him the cowl and Bruce puts it on. Bruce turns around and Alfred is shocked to see the frightening image that is Batman.
- Roman Sionis, now Black Mask, and a group of masked thugs break into an underground gambling ring in a club and hold everyone at gun point. He orders his men to start taking everything and stuffing it into bags. Black Mask thanks all the other gangsters an when suddenly a masked thug gets thrown through the door from out in the club. The men all walk out and see Batman beating up thugs left and right. It’s hard to see and hear from the flashing lights and loud music. People are running everywhere out of the exits. Black Mask orders his thugs to shoot him and they all aim their guns and begin shooting. Batman disappears into the darkness of the room as the thugs continue to shoot up the room. All of a sudden Batman jumps down behind them and starts fighting them all off and disarming them. He then turns and Black Mask turns and begins running out of the building. Batman chases after him and Black Mask runs into another room. He runs toward doors that go outside, but they are locked. Suddenly a batarang hits the wall next to his face and he turns around but no one is there. He pulls out a gun and begins walking back where he came. He calls out for Batman when suddenly Batman appears next to him and tries to knock the gun out of his hand, but Black Mask is able to get a shot off and the bullet grazes Batman in the side. Black mask then turns and runs out a door that leads up to the roof. Batman follows and Black Mask aims his gun at where batman should be, but instead Batman appears behind him. Black Mask realizes and turns to shoot, but batman gets the gun this time and breaks the gun down into pieces. Black Mask tries to crawl away but Batman grabs him and begins dragging him to the edge of the building. Batman picks him up and holds Black Mask over the edge. Batman tears off Roman’s mask and it falls down to the ground below. Roman is terrified and says: “What the Hell are you?” Batman: “I’m Batman.” Suddenly Commissioner Gordon and a group of police appear on the roof and yell at Batman to freeze. Batman hurls Roman back to the roof and then dives of the side of the building. Gordon runs over and watches as Batman glides away between the buildings.
- Bruce wakes up the next morning after Alfred wakes him up with the morning paper. He reads the headline about a massive bat-like creature attacking the club. He says that this is what he wanted. This will cause fear in the criminal world. With Roman under arrest and completely out of the picture Wayne Enterprises takes control of Sionis Industries under the Wayne name. Roman watches this as he sits in jail and becomes furious. He is holding his mask in his hands.
- Bruce continues his dealing with Wayne Enterprises and continues to wage his war on the criminal underworld as Batman. His suit continues to evolve as he gets more and more tech from Lucius and Wayne Enterprises. Alfred and him keep working on the batcave and putting more and more stuff into it.
- One night Bruce is keeping up appearances at a charity event and nobody can stop talking about Batman. He laughs off all the rumors he is hearing and when he can’t take it anymore he grabs a couple roses from a flower stand and leaves and starts to walk the streets of Gotham. He walks down and stands in front of an old abandoned theater. He starts to have flashbacks of the night his parents were killed. He then walks down the same alley way and stands in the same spot they were killed. He kneels down and lays the two roses down on the ground. He continues to walk down the streets and a car pulls up. Alfred rolls down the windows and Bruce gets into the car. They have a small conversation as they head back to the mansion.
- The next morning it is all over the news that Roman Sionis, a.k.a. Black Mask escaped from Blackgate prison the night before. Bruce goes into the batcave and gets on the computer he goes to examine the surveillance footage. Bruce realizes that Roman will try to kill Bruce Wayne because he blames him for everything. Wayne Enterprises decides to hold a masquerade ball on Halloween. Bruce knows that Roman will not be able to resist showing up. Bruce watches over the ball as he finally sees Black Mask show up with a bunch of other masked men. They break up the party and Bruce disappears. He puts his watch to his mouth and tells Alfred to meet him outside. He pulls out his batsuit and starts to get ready. Black Mask asks where Bruce Wayne is and sees his ex-girlfriend and holds her at gunpoint and demands Bruce to reveal himself. Ironically Batman then crashes through the ceiling and lands next to Black Mask. Black Mask says: “Quite the entrance.” Batman throws a batarang and knocks the gun out of Black Mask’s hands. The other men and Black Mask begin attacking Batman and he fights them all off. Batman looks at Black Mask who has taken his girlfriend at gunpoint. He shoves her into batman and he catches her. He then puts her aside and says: “Excuse me.” He chases after Black Mask, but Black Mask gets into a getaway car. Batman then grabs something from his belt and presses a button. Suddenly a roaring engine is heard and the batmobile pulls up in front of him. The valet looks on in shock at what he is seeing as Batman drives away. Batman chases down Black Mask in the batmobile. They drive through the city as Black Mask’s goons try to shoot at the batmobile, but to no avail. They end up at the docks at an old abandoned Sionis Industries factory and Black Mask runs inside. Batman dispatches of the thugs and chases Black Mask inside. Black Mask had been using this place as a base of operations after his escape from prison. Batman catches up and the two men face off. The factory is still somewhat operating and during their fight the factory ends up catching on fire. Black Mask’s face eventually is lit on fire and his entire head is engulfed in flames. He runs out of the burning factory and Batman narrowly escapes by grappling himself out.
- The news talks about the previous nights events and that Black Mask is still at large. Alfred is fixing Bruce up in the batcave as they watch it. Bruce then looks over all the surveillance footage and can’t find anything of how Black Mask escaped. It then cuts to a man with his entire head wrapped in bandages. A mob doctor comes in and tells the man that they could not remove the mask from his face or we would lose his face entirely. They instead made the mask work as an extension of his own body and the mask is now a permanent part of him. The man unravels the bandages in a fury and looks over at a mirror. The mask has melted on Black Mask’s face and his face now resembles a black skull. He moves his jaw and the opens his mouth. He examines his new face. His old face can still be seen under parts of the mask, like his eyes and parts of his scalp, but he is no longer the man he was. The doctor says: “I’m sorry Mr. Sionis.” Black Mask turns and says: “Roman Sionis is dead. I AM Black Mask.”
- Gordon is standing on top of the police department building and he looks at his watch and then says, “My wife is going to start wondering why I haven’t come home yet.” Batman then appears from the shadows. Batman says, “Sorry.” Gordon replies that it’s fine and begins to say, “You know, when you first came to me that night I really didn’t know what to think. My first thought was this guy’s crazy.” Batman responds, “What about now.” Gordon chuckles, “Still crazy. What you’ve done in the past 6 months is something the police haven’t been able to do in years. How long do you think you can keep this up?” Batman: “As long as it takes.” Gordon: “Eventually they’ll catch you and then they’ll lock me up with you.” Batman: “No they won’t.” Gordon: “Hopefully. I’ve got something for you.” He hands Batman a file and it is the file of the Joker. Gordon: “With Sionis still at large and this clown running around it looks like you’ve got your work cut out for you.” Batman: “Our work. I can’t do this alone. I brought something for you too.” Batman walks over and breaks apart an air conditioning unit. Inside is the batsignal. Batman: “When you need me, light it up.” Gordon walks over and Batman steps behind him. Gordon admires it and says: “So how do you turn it on?” He then turns around to face Batman again but he is already gone. Gordon smirks and looks at the city lights as the sun begins to rise.
- Another news report talks about how the Batman is still at large and still should be considered dangerous. Commissioner Gordon makes a statement about the Batman and that he may be a vigilante but he is helping the city. The press is shocked and tries to ask him more questions but he walks away. Bruce looks impressed and he turns off the TV. He sits in his chair in his study when suddenly the batsignal shines in the night sky. Bruce gets up from his chair and looks at it with a smile on his face.
