First off, I enjoyed the "A-Team" movie with Liam Neeson.but I think the A-Team would work better as a revived TV show. It'll be similar to how they made revived versions of "Battlestar Galactica", "Hawaii 5-0", and, most recently, "Charlie's Angels".
Like the film, the A-Team is a team of special forces soldiers stationed in Iraq. However, the crime that they are accused of is leading an unauthorized raid on a supposed Taliban safehouse. They were given the order by their commanding officer, Colonel Samuel Morrison. They are stripped of their rank and sentenced to ten years in prison without the possibility. However, they escape and become soldiers of fortune int he Los Angeles underground, helping out people who have problems with criminals (loan sharks, drug runners, mobsters), while being pursued by the Military Police. The show will have a more somber tone to it mixed with comedic moments (similar to the revived version of "Doctor Who").
Anyway here's the cast:
Mark Harmon as Colonel John "Hannibal Smith: The cigar smoking leader of the A-Team, who is a brilliant tactician and a master of disguise. He seems to thrive off of the adventure and life-threatening situations the team gets into (which B.A. dubs as being "on the jazz"). His plans are unorthodox, but in the end, they come together.
Reason for Casting: I chose Harmon for Hannibal not just because of his silver hair color, but that he can also play a leader (as shown in "NCIS").
Jeffrey Donovan as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck: A suave, smooth talking ladies' man and second-in-command of the A-Team. He is used as a con man and scrounger, being able to get his hands on any supplies, equipment, and sensitive information that is required for a job.
Reason for Casting: He was the first man that I though of when casting Face. I thought Jeffrey could be brilliant as Face after watching him in "Burn Notice" (his character, Michael Weston, is essentially a one man A-Team).
Terry Crews as Sgt. B.A. Baracus: The muscle and skilled mechanic of the A-Team. He is nicknamed "Bad Attitude" since he is quick to anger, but is a nice man at heart. Baracus is a teetotaler, sticking to milk (since it's "good for the bones") and has a fear of flight, especially if the plane in question is flown by Murdock (requiring the other members of the team to drug him).
Reason for Casting: Casting Baracus was pretty hard since the character is the public persona of Mr. T. I decided on Crews since he has the right build and can be funny.
Matthew Lillard as Captain H.M. "Howlin' Mad" Murdock: One of the best chopper pilots around who can fly anything. He is either mentally unstable or is just good at pretending to be so. He is noted by his baseball cap, a customized A-2 leather flight jacket, khaki pants, and Keds tennis shoes. He surprisingly has an extensive knowledge on a variety of different subjects, and can speak mutiple languages.
Reason for Casting: I decided on Lillard since he can play insane (as shown in "Scream"). However, this insanity will be comedic, not the "I kill you" insanity. Plus, Lillard has been typecasted ever since he appeared as Shaggy in that live action adaptation of "Scooby Doo" (which was terrible).
Gabrielle Anwar as Amanda Amy Allen: A reporter for the Los Angeles Times who helps the team out from time to time. She is nicknamed "Triple A" by Hannibal since the first letter of her initials all begin with "A".
Reason for Casting: I think she is well suited for this role after seeing her on "Burn Notice".
Villains:
Nick Offerman as Colonel Fredrick Lynch: The arrogant and ambitious head of the military stockade where the A-Team was housed. He views the hunt for the A-Team as the biggest part of his career, although he has yet to catch them.
Reason for Casting: Lynch is suppose to be a comedic character (he's the Wile E. Coyote to the A-Team's Roadrunner). I chose Offerman since he is not only visually similar to William Lucking, but he is also pretty funny on "Parks and Recreation".
Richard Dean Anderson as Colonel Roderick Decker: The man who replaces Lynch after failing to catch the A-Team. He was chosen since his unorthodox techniques are similar to Hannibal's (who had had fight with during a brawl in an Officer's Club). He both respects and despises the A-Team for their integrity and teamwork.
Reason for Casting: I decided to cast Anderson after watching him in "Stargate: SG1".
Michael K. Williams as Captain Crane: Decker's second-in-command, who often surprised at the A-Team's ability to evade them.
Reason for Casting: Love him on "The Wire".
