This is the Updated version.

Warner Bros has everything they need to create a great DC cinematic universe.
One character that I’m really excited to see on the big screen is Aquaman.
There are two big problems in making a good Aquaman movie. The first is the prejudice against the Superhero. A lot of people think Aquaman is just some guy who speaks with fish and can breathe underwater. There is so much more about the character, and I think WB must advertise this movie as an epic. Make him more like Thor. That's why I think he should also have a beard. Make his suit to look like armor, like they did in Injustice: Gods Among Us game.

The 2nd problem is the origin story.

In the comics, Aquaman has multiple origin stories, some are a little stupid, while others are really epic. I see the comic book movie as an alternative look on the comic itself, and that is why I think it’s alright when the movies are not one hundred percent accurate to the original source. Sometimes you have to change some things to make it work. A movie has only 2 hours to tell the story, so not everything can stay the same.

I personally loved Zack Snyder’s vision of Superman, and I loved what Marvel did in their cinematic universe. So, I’m already telling you that I will be making some changes to the Aquaman story to work within this context. I will try to stay true to the original story, but I will mix between his origin stories, and will add some modern vision to it; changing some things completely, in order for them to work in the story of the movie.

One more thing, I do think that this movie should happen only after the Justice League film has released, so I’m writing the story as if the JL movie already happened.

But first, some casting.
No one really knew who Henry Cavill was before Superman, so I do think the actor that would cast as Aquaman should be an unknown, someone new. I always imagined Aquaman to look like Chris Hemsworth, but since he is already Thor, so it will need to be someone else. It will be weird to have his own brother, Liam Hemsworth, to be cast, but if he will, I will be ok with that.

Another actor that comes to my head is Kellan Lutz. Yes, I know he was in Twilight, but Kellan is a big dude, and he looks like the part. And he already was Poseidon in Immortals, so I think he could do a good job.

My last pick is Charlie Hunnam. He was great in Pacific Rim, and we all love him as Jax on Sons of Anarchy. And Charlie is a big dude too, the only problem with him is his accent, because sometimes he sounds almost Russian because of the clash of the British and American accents.

I think Kellan Lutz would be the best Aquaman out of this three.

More casting:
Mera - Amber Heard or Gemma Arterton (They would need to dye their hair to red, but Scarlett Johansson did the same to be Black Widow).

Ocean Master/Orm - Luke Evans

Vulko - Sean Bean

Atlan - Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Atlanna - Elsa Pataky

Thomas Curry - Bruce Greenwood

King Travis - James Purefoy

The story begins on Atlantis, an under-water city, which is the home of one of the most advanced civilizations on Earth. The lord (of the lord) of Atlantis is Travis, and his wife is Atlanna. Travis is not a very nice person. Leading Atlanna to fall in love with Atlan, a mysterious Atlantean who has great powers.

Atlan is the younger brother of Travis, but Travis banished him long ago. Atlan’s blonde hair was considered course, but there were legends that a gold haired Atlantean will be the most powerful king that there ever was. Trevis was scared for his throne.

After a while Atlanna gets pregnant, and she gave birth to two sons. One of them has blond hair, and Atlan gives him the name Orin. The other son is named Orm.
Travis finds out about Atlanna’s betrayal, but he believes that Orm is his son, because he has black hair. Travis tries to kill Atlan, who sacrifices his own life to save Atlanna and Orin. Atlanna is injured while she escapes.

Thomas Curry, a deep sea explorer finds the two, and takes them to his ship. Thomas is amazed by their clothes, and makes his crew to keep all of this a secret. Atlanna tells Thomas to protect her son, and tells him his name. Atlanna says that they will be safer on land, and never come back to this part of the sea, and then she dies from her Wounds. Thomas then decides to adopt Orin, and calls him Arthur.
Years later we see Arthur as a child, and we see how he learns about his powers. He learns that he can He can breathe underwater, and he can swim really fast, and then he realizes that he can control and communicate with sea animals. This must be done right, and make it as exciting as that scene when Superman Flying for the first time in Man of Steel.
I loved how in Man of Steel they showed us how Clark Kent tries to coops with the fast that he is an alien from another plant and now he lives among human. I think they need to show us how Aquaman coops with that two, show us how a being with God-like powers tries to live his life like a human.

While Arthur learns about who he is, there should be a hero scene, and then he saves few people.
In the same time this happens, his brother, Orm deals with some things too. Vulko, and adviser of the king, tells Orm the truth about his origins.
Orm was raised to be a warrior, and he has great powers too. Orm kills Trevis without any hesitation, and he orders martial law in Atlantis, and then takes the name of Ocean Master.
One of Orm’s loyal soldiers is Mera, a very powerful warrior. Mera believes that humanity is destroying the oceans, and someone must stop them, even if it means that Orm will conquer them.
Orm decides that it is time for Atlanteans to rule earth, but first he learns that there is an Atlantean that lives among the humans. Orm sends two soldiers to find this Atlantean, not knowing that it’s his own brother.

The two soldiers attack Arthur and Thomas, and for the first time in his life, Arthur can’t do everything. He tries to fight the soldiers, but he gets his ass-kicked by the two. Then the soldiers attack Thomas, and they are about to kill him. Arthur gets really furious, and summons a big wave that washes the soldiers away. But eventually the soldiers overpower Arthur and take him to Orm.

Orm is shocked to realize that Orin is his brother. Vulko who also understands this, believes that Orin could be the one to save the sea.
Orm offers Orin to stand with him, and wage war against humans. Orin can't stand for that, believing that war with humanity isn't the solution and will only hurt the sea more.
Orin struggles the idea that he is a son of two different worlds.
Part of him wants to punish humans for their carelessness and lack of respect for the sea, and he wants to protect the sea life. But the other part in him is the human part. He may be not a human, but he was raised as a human, and he feels obligated to the humans and the surface world.
Orin is tempted to take brother's offer, knowing very well that tougher they will be unstoppable, but in the same time feels that there is another way.

Orm orders Mera to show the underwater beauty to Orin, and while they on the tour, Orin sees that the Atlanteans are all edgy, and ready for a war. Orin also understands that Mera is also conflicted. She wants to punish the humans, but she doesn't want kill inset people.
Eventually, Orin confronts Orm, trying to make his brother see reason, but Orm decides instead to turn on his brother, saying that nothing can stand it the way of the rise of Atlantis.
Orm and Orin fight, but because Orm is a good warrior, he is able to beat his brother.

Orin is imprisoned, but then Vulko helps Orin to escape, and the takes him to a secret place where Vulko tells Orin his origin.
Vulko then tells Arthur that he is the rightful heir to the throne. Vulko tells him that Orm is out of control, and he isn’t fit to rule. Vulko helps Arthur to control his powers. Vulko also gives him a great armor, and the Trident of Neptune. Arthur then takes his birth name, Orin.
Orm summons the Kraken to his aid, and he sends it to attack a human city. Vulko learns about it, and tells Orin that he must stop the attack. Vulko tells Orin that after Atlan was banished, he explored the depths of the sea, and he learned to how to control other sea life, Orin and Orm have inherited all of Atlan’s ability’s. Orin must learn what it really means to be the king of the sea, and control the Kraken, and stop him from destroying the human city.

The Kraken comes out of the water near a big city, and Orm comes out of the water too, as he floats in the air, held by a massive water column. Orm uses his powers so everyone could hear him, and he says that he is the king of Atlantis, and it’s time for humanity to bow down before the true ruler of the world. Orm says that humanity has hurt the sea for too long, and it’s time to make humans understand that you can’t hurt the sea and get away with it. Orm creates a massive tsunami, and the giant wave is about to hit the city, but suddenly it is stopped, and then the tsunami goes back and smashes the Kraken. Out of nowhere Orin arrives and attacks Orm.
Orin says “Time to end this madness, brother”.
The two fight. Orm asks “Why do you protect them? They are the enemies of Atlantis!”, but Orin says “This is not the way”.
The fight counties, but Orm uses his years of training to get the upper hand. But then the Kraken raises back and starts to attack the city.
“You must stop it!” says Orin, but Orm realizes he can’t control the monster anymore, and then the goes back to the water.

Orin goes to fight the Kraken, and there is an epic battle, the way it should have been done in Clash of the Titans, but make it more like Pacific Rim. It’s very much David vs. Goliath, with Orin using his powers to save people and fight the Kraken. The monster uses its giant tentacles to destroy buildings. Orin uses the water with telekinesis, and throws it on the Kraken, Orin controls the water in such a way that the water is hitting the monster with big force and even cut it. At some point, the Kraken goes to destroy a skyscraper with his tentacles, but Orin uses the water to cut off the tentacle. Finally, Orin uses his telepathy power to control the Kraken, making it to stand down.

The humans are amazed by it all. We see a montage of news reports, one that says “where was Superman?”, and in then we see the Flash, calling Orin “Aquaman”.
At the same time, the government and the army start thinking about what happened. They don’t understand where the Kraken came from and who is Aquaman. One general says they need to call Superman, but a man that stands in the shadows says he is on an out world missions, and Superman is not on earth. The general then says “Then call some of the other freaks, isn’t that their job! Where’s Green Lantern or the Amazon woman? We can’t expect the world to be saved buy some guy who runs fast!!!”. The man in the shadows steps into the light, and it’s Batman.
Batman says “Don’t worry general, the Justice League didn’t left earth unattended”.

Orin goes to visit Thomas Curry at his home. Thomas tells Orin that he found out that the government is going to start exploring the sea in a very different way, and they will react in an aggressive way to any more attacks. Orin understands that if Orm will continue, there will be war between the surface and the sea. And he can’t let this happen.
Orm decides to kill Orin. Orm uses his telepathy to find Orin location when he is in sea, and learns about Orin’s hideout. Orm sends Mera to bring Orin to him.

Orin and Mera fight each other in an underwater battle, but evil Mermaids Interfere, and attack them both. Mera gets injured during the attack, and Orin saves her, and takes her with him.
Orin uses the water to heal Mera’s wound. Mera confronts Orin, saying that he protects humans, while they pulled the Oceans and killing the sea life. Orin says that killing humans isn’t the solution, because they are the people who live on the surface, and they must be protected too. Orin then explains that his father, Atlan learned the truth of the Oceans, and he protected them until he was killed. Orin says that Orm uses sea life to kill other life forms, and he must stop him. Orin promises to Mera that he wants to protect the Oceans just as she does, and in order he could do that he must stop his brother. Orin tells her that if Orm will continue, there will be war between the surface and the sea. And he can’t let this happen. Orin says that humans won’t stop until there will not be any threat, they will send missiles and bombs, and destroy the sea. Mera decides to trust Orin, but she says she won’t let the humans hurt the sea, and she will hold him accountable.

Vulko revels to the two his secret army of rebels who will fight for the revolution. Mera says they will never go pass Atlantis’s shields, and Orin says he has something in mind.
The rebels swim for the attack, and Orm’s army is standing ready behind the shields, but suddenly the Kraken appears, and Orin rides on his head. The Kraken destroys the shields, and a war begins.

Orin fights with his army, but then goes to the royal tower, there Orin and Orm start fighting in front of the throne. The two use their superpowers to fight each other, and soon the fight becomes very epic, like Superman vs. Zod, only with water.
By some point, Orm creates a whip made from water, and hits Orin in a brutal way few times, and then orm drags Orin to the bottom of the ocean, and tries to choke Orin with the water wipe. Orin controls the water to call his trident, that injures Orm,and frees Orin from the choke. Orm then creates a sword made out of water, and the two fight more, but then Orin gets the upper hand. He is about to stab Orm to death with the trident, and Orm says: "Go on, brother, kill me! take your throne with blood!"
But Orin spars Orm, and starts walking away.
Orm: "You are weak! you will never be a king! your precious humans will kill the sea, I am the true King of the Ocean!"
Orin: "stand down, Orm. Don't make me end you!"
Orm: "I AM THE KING!"
Orm creates a spear made of water, and throws it on Orin, but the spear evaporates mid air, and suddenly a big white shark shows up and takes Orm with it.
Orin: "I am sorry...brother".

You probably won’t like that Aquaman kill Orm, but unlike Superman, Aquaman don’t really has a problem with killing, and I think Ocean Master needs to die.

Orin gives a speech to his new people, and tells them that it is a new age. He promises he won’t let humanity to continue hurting the sea, and they can’t go and kill humans. He promises that know mankind will now that the sea has a new protector. And no human will be allowed to hurt the sea anymore. Vulko raises his hand in the air and calls “King Orin”, and the others join him.

After that, Orin buries his brother. Orin asks Vulko what he will do now, how can he be the king of the Atlanteans and also protect the humans. Orin says that know that the humans know about them, it all changes. Humans will see Atlanteans as possible threats, and that there can't be peace between the two races, only a temporary truce. Vulko says that this is the burden he will have to carry. Vulko says that to be a king is not to be able to do that ever he wants, but to be able to make the hard choices. Vulko says that someday Orin will face a cross roads, and he will have to choose between the sea and the humans, and when that day will come, he hopes that Orin will be a wise enough king to make the wise choice.

Later on, Orin is in the throne room, but he doesn't sit on the throne. Mera joins him. Orin asks will she stand with him, and help him. And Mera jokes that he wouldn't be able without her. She says that Orin will be a good king, or he will have to answer to her, and then she winks to him. Orin sits on the throne, and looks around. Then the movie cuts to Orin seem really fast in the water, and the movie ends with Orin accelerating his speed, and there is a underwater sonic boom.

In the after credits scene, Orin jumps out of the water, just to see a man flying above him, a man with a red cape.
Superman: “I heard you are the new sheriff in town”
Aquaman : “You may be strong, but I’m pretty sure I could kick your ass, probably ruin your red cape”.
Superman smiles and then he says: “I’m not your enemy, Aquaman”.
Aquaman: “Aquaman?”
Superman: “that’s how they call you, you do have an A shaped letter on your belt”
Aquaman: “That is not an A!”
Superman points on the “S” on his chest: “Well this is not a “S”, besides we don’t really get to name ourselves, well expect Batman, but that’s a whole different story”.
Aquaman: “Aquaman, Superman, Batman…My name is Orin!”
Superman: “I’m not here for that, and I’m not here to fight, I’m here to offer you a chance to become a part of something big”.
Aquaman: “The Justice League”
Superman: “We could use someone like you”.
Aquaman: “We will see about that, but you stay in the sky, and stay away from my Kingdome, or you will have a problem with this guys”, and suddenly the Kraken, a giant Sea serpent, an Hydra, Godzilla-like monster and few massive Whales come out the sea.
Aquaman: “It’s a new day out in the Ocean”

The End.

I'd get Sean Bean for Aquaman and make it Game of Thrones underwater. I admit Sean's a bit old but he's Seasn Bean and he's the spitting image of 90s Aquaman.

How to make a good Aquaman movie? It's the same way you need to make a good Wonder Woman movie. You need a director who is a fan of the work and will stay true to the character and the universe. No changes to the character.

That's part of why the last attempt at a Wonder Woman movie failed. Both the director and star (the talentless Megan Fox) thought Wonder Woman's only power was a lasso of truth. They wanted to make all these changes.

It's not the only reason it failed, but it's one of many
