They say you never forget your first time. Mine was on the second moon of Balas I. We were defending a cloning factory when a rival merc group hit us. They were trying to steal a fresh batch about to head out to the Empire. I was trying to pick up a fallen corp mate, when I looked up and saw a 80gj Rail cannon pointing right at me. I swear I saw the slug coming at me in slow motion just before it ripped me in half, but I am getting ahead of myself. Hello, my name is Bishop Harcourt. I am 30 years old, a mercenary, and I am immortal. But I wasn't always this way.
I guess I should start at the beginning.
My upbringing was unconventional by Gallente standards. I was raised mostly by my grandsires on Luminaire VI. My father Regis Harcourt spent the majority of his time running our families space station in the Unel star system of the Agiesseson constellation. Thats where he met my mother, Anyna D'veroue. I can't tell you much about her other then she was an exiled Civire frigate pilot. Why she left the State, I'll never know. She took off when I was 3. I guess the call of the stars was too great for her to ignore. I wasn’t bitter though, I got on just fine without her.
With my family's wealth, I grew up wanting for nothing(spoiled rotten as father would say), and excelled in most activities I set my mind to. In those days my Caldari blood, while a bit of a family scandal, was never an issue with my peers and teachers. While not on the best of terms, the Federation and the State were not aggressive towards one another. We lived in relative peace and I grew into a young man.
When I was 17, I left my ancestral home for the University of Caille. I went there to study business, but became fascinated by the concepts of nanocircuitry and its applications in medicine. I found I had a knack for the field, and after a few years graduated top of my class. After a short visit home, I headed off to Duripant VII and spent the next year as a cadet in the Federation Navy Academy. Upon completion, I received my commission as ensign and given orders to report to my commanding officer Maison Orinonet at the fleet testing facility on Uphallant V - Moon 14. It was a good time for me. I made a few good friends, and helped design new tech for the fleet. One might even say I was even happy. Then it all came crashing down.
