My base idea for the fifth installment is centered around the Christian Artifact, The Spear of Destiny, which has already received comic treatment. I had no idea there was a comic centered around it until I searched for a picture to go under the Base Idea. My ideas only relation to the comic is the artifact and some of the characters (duh). The Spear of Destiny is said to give the holder the power to control the world. It seems fitting to use considering two of the other movies revolve around Christian artifacts.
There are two possible routes this movie would go.
Route 1:
Around 15 years after Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Indy has passed on the tradition of adventuring to Mutt Williams. Indy will die early in the film. Mutt Williams decides to finish one of his fathers most important missions.... find the REAL Spear of Destiny. Several churches claim to have the real one, even though none of them do. Mutt then sets off with the few clues he has to find this mysterious item. Along with him are his best friend and colleague, and the movies love interest for Mutt. This movie would also set Mutt as the main protagonist for each upcoming film. I would have Bradley Cooper play an older more mature Mutt Williams.
Route 2:
This movie would serve as a prequel to the fourth film and occurs a few years after the third. I wouldn't have the film stray from the feel of any of the originals, and would still prefer it be set up as,"Indy is on a mission. Indy finishes said mission or fails current mission and gets caught up with being tasked to find the titular artifact." Indy would set out to find the pear of Destiny and has to stop it from ending up in the wrong hands. So this route is a safer route, as it seems, to go for writers. I would have (big unoriginal surprise I know) Bradley Cooper. He looks like a younger Indy and sons tend to look like their fathers hence why he was also in route 1. I feel like he's, not necesarily destined for the role but would be perfect if needed to pull a James Bond, so no matter how unoriginal it is, why keep it from being in here?
Obviously I could have elaborated a bit more but I thought of this on the spot and had to get it out before my mind exploded from not sharing it. This is meant more as a starting point than an entire story. Enjoy!
